Back in 05 when I bought my car I drove the sti, evo, and srt-4. Needless to say all nice cars and the sti had better fitment overall but for the money vs money + mods the srt beat 'em out. It was a nice car tho and I love the rally blue.. err winning blue? I don't recall

Yeah the SRT-$ is defiantly a faster car. I wanted the awd for all year use. Sti is too expensive as is the evo.
Anyone see the new caliber srt-4? Saw a black one for the first time yesterday....I dunno, it may grow on me, but its still not my favorite looking car. Aren't they all auto's now with that CVT trans?

um yea.. Csrt-4 no. no way, never. It's a nice car but not my taste and not for 30G. I appreciate what they are attempting to do but I prefer my nimble little sedans. I never really got into suv's or wagons. I'll be keeping my SRT-4 as well, I too like cars that start. LOL I feel what you meant about the TD's being old and all and most are reliable but given their age they will need a rebuild to BE reliable. I feel they are more likely to have a breakage due to age than something much newer but still extremely fun. I drove my Shelby Lancer 200 miles this weekend and I was impressed considering it's got a lot of un-rebuilt miles. I DO think about something going wrong when I take it on long drives but I do drive it responsibly. I drive the SRT a little differently, lol.

Pretty sure my 3.0's start every time, and as long as you have valve guide clips (newer 3.0s) they dont smoke.
My interest in scoobies
STI yes
WRX no
Dont need a WRX with weak transmission that cant handle bolton mods even with a micro turbo.
Bansheenut's friend is wanting to sell his WRX and buy an srt-4.

My cousin had an Evo and it was a pretty sweet car that made great power and handled like it was on rails. I wouldn't want to take it on a trip though, that's for sure. It was loud, the seats were hard, and the interior was dirt cheap looking. The front end was a little too "holy" for me with an opening for just about everything.
I like my TD because it's pretty comfortable, it looks good, and it can be made to be just as powerful for not too much money. I thought about buying an SRT-4, test drove one back then, but it was the same deal - too loud and racecar seating. It's nice for a Sunday driver but not something I'd ride to work in every day.
I imagine the WRX is the same way. Another cousin had one of them, ended up totaling it and got an Audi instead.

My worker is a rich kid with newer subes. His first car was a nice 04 WRX with pilot tires on it. Down right boring to drive but drove OK. Then came the next sube, the 05 STi. What a rattle trap POS. The road noise in a STi is unreal, saying 10 times worse than a SRT 4 is giving the STi compliments. His STi is a non raced 30,000 mile origanal car too, not a high miler. Lastly I won't drive down the freeway in the thing, the front suspension is completely wore out. It VIOLENTLY changes lanes, then sticks pulling left or sticks pulling right. Driving impressions? About like driving a 185,000 mile Daytona Shelby with a FWD stage 3 and nothing else. Make it a T top and the body flex matches up. Simply put the WRX is the better choice of the 2 for a daily driver. The STi suspension beats the snot out of the WRX faster than a 86 GLHS gets beat into a rattle trap. In the end I want power and I want it cheap. The SRT 4 is faster on top than a STi, stock. Then a few mods and some driving and your in the 12s with slicks. I also find AWD way to boring, zero excitement. Then the WRX has no top end trapping slower than my 86 Wagon at the track, which makes it more boring. The SRT 4 has posi, if you can't drive a FWD with posi without getting stuck turn in your liciense or move to a warmer town lol.
I do hear you on the new thing that really needs nothing. Rebuilding a car to drive it as they are just now so old, is exhausting. Myself I like the power and the traction control of the GT PT. You can buy them cheap now and they'll climb an ice covered tree with snow tires. I know many compare buying a WRX to a SRT, but thats not really fair. You need to compare them to a GT PT. Then you can be closer in performance and comparing soft riding cars. The PT also has an auto trans you can get with it with traction control. My brother took his from Spokane WA to MI in Dec for the Christmas thing with his wife. They went through Montana and North Dakota on the way through blizzards, zero issues.

Well buying a WRX to race and build is stupid anyway. The STi is too cheap, the WRX with mods to match the STi cost more than an STi. You buy a WRX for a winter beater, or something you let your wife or daughter drive. Otherwise your just going to break it trying to get power with it. That and a stock STi might be OK with every piece of rubber removed from the suspension at 15,000 miles with poly.

I agree about the awd being boring. To me that stuff is for novice drivers who don't really have performance driving "experience." I felt the SRT-4 got the short end of the stick about interior quality, true plastic everywhere but it's got a nice texture and a painted hvac bezel so for the price should it have the interior of the 300? No. I've never had any rattle issues with it what-so-ever and I think my S-Lancer drives MUCH harder than the SRT does. I can see complaining about the viper seats if you've had a back injury or something but they really aren't uncomfortable and extremely nice for spirited driving. On the other hand.. the subies got nicer colors!

The white and yellow are my 2 favorites with the SRT.
The Viper seats are super comfy once in them lol. Think there racing seats? You need to sit in a 89 CSX with Recaros. Like sitting on a steel plate. The STi doesn't have a race seat, it has a fat guy shaped seat with wide, flat side bolesters. Quality though of the Neon SRT is lower than what it could have had, BUT the car was a Neon though. The new SRT 4 has the nice upgraded everything like the others and they don't sell. So you can pick up a new SRT 4 for a wopping 20 G here in Spokane. They should make the new Demon and make it the SRT 4 and then you have a winner, instead of the whiner they have now lol. It is like they made the next PT the SRT model......

Actually they have a new 6 speed stick! Iv'e been looking at srt-4's as my 85 glh is in need of a full resto before it will be dependable. Great parts on it though if anyone wants it I'm only asking 2k and it has a list of T2 goodies and clear title in hand. Enforcer II turbo, 3" stainless ex. turbo back, stage 3 brain, upgraded fuel system. Check the cars for sale listing.

Hey POPE if u can get a new C-SRT-4 up there for 20K that's not bad. The only one we've got here they want 27,9xx.xx and it's red, I'm not fond of red. To me, NO WAY that car is worth that. I'm not looking to upgrade my '05 but if the price was low I might consider it but not at 30K. For that cost I'd go buy a year old EVO or something that I already like.. not something I'll have to grow to like. LOL.

Got my srt-4 today. Gotta say, very impressed. It's a Turbo Toys Stage 3. I was lucky enough to find one that someone else poured THEIR savings/disposable income into. Runs awesome, perfect idle, 0,1,2&3 level settings via a stock appearing roller dial on the dash which can be changed while driving. LOW MILES. oh yeah, 2004 model with factory lsd. Guys, these cars are just like our old schools. Suped up factory race sedans that were affordable. So they were out on the street whoopin up on anything comparable. Look at Mopar's factory racers in the sixties with early hemis and NO stereo, no back seat and a bench up front. The 89 lil red express, fastest American made production vehicle in 89? Damn straight! My little GLH T2 is crazy fast with about $5,000 invested start to finish. (which is for sale btw) And these SRT cars. The Jeep holding down 1/4 mile times against an M3... in the rain. Ram fasted production truck ever made. OMG the new Challenger. I guess what I'm getting at is I Love Mopar because of their great history not only to mention that it is still an entirly American owned and operated company. I feel something good about that. I don't really reasearch the histories of forign manufactures but i think it is save to say that it's definatly not as inspiring or for lack of better words "cool".
Sorry for the off-subject-ness, just excited 'bout the new car.
P.S. I do like STi's like crazy though. They are definatly sweeeeeet. And a horizontally opposed engine? That's definatly cool. And for the record I think they sound amazing.
