Just picked up an '03 sonic yellow. I love it. Got some hot random chick commenting me on it. That never happened with a TD, lol. Anyone here have one?

Yeah, it is TD.com, and this is posted under "other turbo vehicles", and I believe a Subaru WRX is another turbo vehicle...

give it 20 years like a TD and see how well it starts in the morning. Also if your TD doesn't start then you need to build it better.

yes they're pretty cool but don't knock reliability of a 20-25 year old vehicle just cause your brand new car starts everytime. I've got 3 TD's and unless they're down for a round of mods they start everytime. I drove my modded 2.5 ShelbyZ from Spokane, Wa to Socal and back with nothing more than a spare tire and a spare i/c hose. Didn't even think twice about it letting me down.

I like the wrx esp the STI. AWD is pretty cool and it is not a very heavy car. Good luck with it.

Hey man, not knocking anything. I have had 4 TD's in my driveway in the past. Only one I could really trust is my CSX. All the other ones were beat on, and then sold to me. Bought a '89 turbo mini, had a cracked block, but the owner never told me. Bought an '89 2.5 daytona, had LOTs of problems, that magically came about after I got it home. I also had and '85 GLH-T. That one just needed brakes, and a welder . Honestly, if I had gotten a decent one, I probably wouldn't have bought the WRX. Even the CSX needed a motor when I got it. I put one in and have been driving it since.
So, I am not knocking the TD's, there just not for me. I wanted to get something that had lower miles that wasn't beat on to bad. I know TD's are the cheap way to make a fast car. I just need to be more on the trustworthy, and dependable side
Yeah yellow wasn't my first choice, but it was the first decent one that came around.

You must have some pretty sweet lawnmowers
An open exhaust on the boxers sound awsome IMO.

I currently drive a '97 Subaru Legacy. It is equipped with the 2.2l 16v sohc N/A. It's a tough motor considering it's their weakest. It makes 135hp. I have 170 on the clock now and I have a real bad vibration developing in the drive-train. I have been thinking about fixing it and selling it so I can buy two TD's. The Subaru parts are very pricey. I can't imagine replacing them on a turbo car that is more likely to have problems. I have put into mine in 100,ooomiles: 2 axles $140, 2 inside tie rods $100, timing belt and water pump $60, 2 o2 sensors $200, used wheel bearing $35, ceramic brakes $120, and maybe I forgot a couple of things. The bearing is $100 new and has to be pressed out of the spindle and off the hub. I got really lucky to find one at the pick-n-pull on half price day. These repairs would probably have been over $5000 if I was paying someone to perform the labor. I have been thinking I will sell it and get a four-door turbo LeBaron and a convertible LeBaron. I used to roll in an '89 Aries K w/ a LeBaron front end and all poly suspension and motor mounts, eibachs and KYB. With an aspirated 2.2l it was faster than my Subaru and the handling was about the same but different.

All vehicles require service at some point, no question there. Turbo dodge cars are super cheap to fix, but I felt like I was doing it every other day. Alternator here, starter there, wondering why there is a puddle of antifreeze one day, and gone the next. TPS codes all the time, put in a new one, and it didn't fix it. Clutch, cables are worn, overheating, low oil pressure, exhaust leaks, oil leaks, freeze out plugs, radiator, hoses, timing would jump on its own, caliper froze, powersteering hose leaks, belts squeeling, broken vacuum lines, etc. The parts were cheap, but I lost my patience working on it everyday. Some people don't have to, and thats great. I just had no such luck. Hopefully your luck was better than mine. Lol.

in june of 2002 i bought a new 2002 WRX and it was a great car as my daily driver, the ride and handling were very nice, it didnt get very good fuel economy around 20 or so and was kinda a dog below 5,000 rpm just very little grunt at low rpm.
the Southwest Airlines interior fabric sucked as it grabbed and held dog hairs so after just one year i sold it.
