the Carters use vac to control AF which is great normally for Mopars because Mopars make more power running a little lean. However with the turbo you need the fuel and Holleys can be had with power valves. The TQ is too large as well, I would just look for a 750 Holley for it. I would also run the Holley Street Dominator intake manifold with it as well. A lot more torque than stock and has the right design for boost. The right timing is important too, run 34 total with a MSD timing retard for a half to one point of timing reduction per PSI.

Increasing flow with these creates more boost. The heads are good, but work great portes with stock valves. Straight through muffler and larger exhaust. Same ways you get more boost out of the 1st gen Cummins trucks (engine wise not fuel).should run 4-5 PSI now and you do some mods for flow to get up around 10. Like a Mitsu they don't make raging power with higher boost being so small, but should have mountains of torque.

hey whiskyman,I just might take you up on that as I,m off work also. I,m up east of valparaiso. i think we have the same system . found some of my old pop. hot rodding mags(1979 vintage) with an article on four diff. turbo manufacturers(knew i kepted it for this reason),one of them was RV Turbo. the article claimed the systems for big block mopars and chubbys have a waist gate set @ 9psi and their kit for small block chebbys don't use a waist gate and ran unregulated producing a max of 10-11pound of boost @6500rpm ?!? I know mine DOES NOT have a waist gate on it.

they get a stock smog engine and they try different size turbos untill they get about 6 PSI and call it good. Laggy as hell but they didn't care. So today you add a little flow for more boost. Head work and exhaust work. Going to a full 4" off the turbo would give about 4-5 PSI alone.

The WG turbos eat tranys more as they make too much low RPM boost and torque, it just wasn't popular. Shelby and Spearco were together in the 70s making turbo kits. I have the water injection small block Mopar kit, had anyway lol.

Sounds like you have a complet org. set up. The old mag. article I have on our RV Turbo kit came with water injection set to be activated at 2lbs of boost. Been reading up on meth spray sys. for mine. i think the pope posted something about msd set up with a knock sencer which will take some timing out also. If i get down to see yours I'll bring the article, it has three pics of a 400 big block mopar on a engine stand with the turbo sys. on it. by the way I under stand a 383/400 will fit in the dakotas (low deck big block will give you another inch and a half for room for the turbo, which gets me thinkin about my 69 gtx! (to tight with a 440).

Sweptlines DO rule, don't they. Think I've seen you on their site. Tons of info there (sweptline.org) for the 61-71 dodge trucks!

well, probably won't mess up the dakota like that, but then again ? i may end up selling the 440 turbo and keeping the dakota, or if work doesn't turn around might sell both of them and concentrate on some other projects. i have to finish demoing the rv that the 440 is in soon also, taking up to much room in the garage,

This looks very close to mine. Diff. make/company but same layout. I,m ,still looking at how to set it up as I'm new to turbocharging.I did pick up a clean 87 shelby charger 12yrs or so a go with a blow up 2.2 an dropped a junk yard engine just to turn some bucks. After getting it up and running, didn't catch that the w/gate was not hooked up. On the "test ride" I was to say the least, shocked at how it pulled through 1st an 2nd till the over boost shut down the fuel. knew then, thats what a 440 needed. mine has a 301 rajay turbo mounted on a t4 flange. by what I,ve been reading it might be choking it up in the rpm's? and thinking of finding a 2nd set up for mine, skip and block off the the cross over and run twins. want to just get it bolted on for now an see what I got, then go from there. Any in put on this idea any body? looks like my turbo mounts a little more on top of the ex.manifold vers out the side. the one in your pics looks like it would clear the floor and engine cover on my 1966 "Dodge Moter Home" (travco) which is what I org. planed to put mine on.

No, they never did, but in the late 70's there were a some aftermarket company's selling them for motor homes, and at the time Chrysler had a very large share of the market selling motor home chassis's with 440's. As I said in one of my first posts, mine was made by RV Turbo company. They were out of Huston TX., but understand they went belly up years ago. Most of these (draw through) systems are old ones form that era.
