I've got a 87 2.2 L Turbo... I walked out of the house tonight and noticed a puddle of oil under the car... oh crap so I pop the hood and notice exactly where it was coming from the rear cam plug had blown off and was sitting on the air intake.

My question is what do I need to do to put it back on? Do I have to get a new one and what is the install procedure?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'd get a new one.
Check the oil ... this sort of thing can blow a motor.

Now, on to why it popped out in the first place.
How many miles on the engine?
How much boost?

How many miles on the engine? 40450 original miles
How much boost? What ever it was sold with...

I had this happen on a NA 2.2 in my 87 Sundance. No problem if you didnt drive it long. Mine happened while driving and the low oil light came on. I pulled over found the cam plug had come out. I shoved it back in, put 2 qts in her and drove her home. Went and bought a new one, put some hi temp rtv around it and popped it in, never had another problem. So I guess your answer is, you should be just fine. Oh BTW way that motor had over 180,000 miles on it and never had the head off and still got 32 mpg on the highway. Would probably still be on the road if my son had not wrecked it. Hope this helps.

Clean up the area good and put a new one it. Chances are the thing got old and brittle over time and just couldn't stay put and pushed out. Excessive blow by could cause it to pop out also but I wouldn't think that low of miles would have blow by issues.
