Re: 1990 Daytona Shelby 2.5l turbo

Welcome to TD !! with a 90 shelby 5-speed !!

yur 90 *should* be a 2.2 VNT - a rare engine ;
check the 'emissions sticker' on the underside of the hood..
that will tell you what the car came with.

check out Dodge Daytona Shelby Z / Daytona Shelby for more

engine may have been changed sometime in the past tho,.
perhaps a 2.5 was swapped in.. hard to tell with old TDs ;)

good luck and keep us posted !!

Re: 1990 Daytona Shelby 2.5l turbo

is the 8th digit of the vin "C" or "J"

c would indicate the 2.2 vnt car
j would indicate a 2.5 t1 car

Re: 1990 Daytona Shelby 2.5l turbo

Welcome to the forum. The car is a great find whether it is originally a vnt or not. 90 shelbys are pretty rare in general. Would love to see pics.

Re: 1990 Daytona Shelby 2.5l turbo

Welcome To TD!!!
Congrats On Your Find!!!

2.5L was not intercooled.
Here is a pic of the 2.2L VNT engine bay and VNT Solenoids on the right fender.
(3 on fender, one on strut tower)
VNT uses 3 solenoids to control boost + the purge solenoid.
