Besides my '89 Lebaron GTC Turbo convertible, 5-speed intercooled, I drive everyday a 1989 Turbo Voyager SE turbo I automatic. I had the motor rebuilt last February & just had a stock rebuild. This surely is a fun thing to drive & just to have the 'turbo' decals on the fenders is true fun :thumbs up . There are some folks out there that just have never heard of a turbo van before & i do not have a problem showing them under the hood :big grin: .

My non-Dodge turbo car('91 Spirit R/T is my TD) is an LS1 Z28. I've got MTI stage 2 LS6 head, intake, and cam package and too many other engine mods to mention--but all on a factory shortblock. The big kicker is an Incon twin turbo system. The car is my daily driver and in this format made 613 rwhp and 598rwtq at only 5 psi on straight pump gas. I'm making big power on pump gas and low boost levels because this engine's induction system is capable of serious airflow without the hairdriers--so they just enhance it. The car is a sleeper, with no rice-boy like stickers, and, when idling, sounds like any other F-body with an exhaust and maybe a little cam. I finally got it to the track this weekend, because I didn't want to add the slicks until I got the 12-bolt installed. The car is basically set up for road racing, not drag racing. I turned up the boost a couple pounds at the strip, and added some high octane just to be safe. I only got one pass, before the ET Nazis gave me the boot due to inadequate safety equipment. I ran 10.28@143 mph with an embarassing 2.15 60-foot. If my calculations are correct, that mph, combined with the cars weight, indicates around 780 rwhp on that pass. I spun the slicks, because I'm not used to that extra power I got from turning up the boost. Naturally, this car makes 9-second power, but it's a daily driver, so I'm not going to make any compromises just to get that 9-second time slip. This car has done exactly what I intended it to do. I drove it to the strip with the a/c on, did some tuning, put on the slicks, scared the piss out of the local rice contingent, then dropped the boost back down to pump gas levels, put the street tires back on, filled it up with 93 octane, and went cruising with the a/c on.

Parked under the deck here at home, we got a 1967 Austin Mini, originally with 848cc's of raw power(36hp), plus a factory 4 speed automatic. The engine I also have for it is from a 67 cooper s. 1275cc's of raw power(about 90hp with header/45mm weber dcoe/slightly ported head)and a 4 speed straight cut gear box. Should be more than enough power to roast those 145r10's in almost any gear. Now if I can just ditch the 4 wheel 7" drum brakes, for some 7.5" discs that still fit under the stock 10" steelies.

I have a 1985 Ram D-100 with a slant 6. The old slant will become a boat anchor and a 440 will go in its place. I'm looking into maybe a single turbo with EFI or a roots supercharger with a carburetor. I'd like to put a Tremec 6 speed in it too.

Trust me, he's not being sarcastic, it did actually pull a 15.2 in the 1/4. With the wastegate unplugged, a hobbs switch controlling the cold start injector, overboost cutout bolt(in the air flow meter), front mounting the stock i/c, and a bunch of toluene in the tank. Also spiking to something like 22psi. :thumbs up

Just to let you know turbovanman, the earlier sprints(up to 88), were 55hp in their carburated form, and the turbos were 70hp at 6psi, but the turbos did have 110 lb/ft of torque, while the n/a's had about 75 lb/ft. The 89-91 sprints turbo were the same as the earlier turbo's, the the n/a's added tbi, and about 5 lb/ft torque over the carbed models, while the hp stayed the same at 55hp.

I think that it's kinda bad that I know the hp/torque figures of a sprint though.

Yeah but come on, the mini with the 850 and a 4 speed, had 36 hp, and 48lb/ft of torque, weighed about 1300 lbs, and could do 0-60 in comfortably under 60 seconds(59.5 seconds in brit speak). Any sprint, even weighing 2600lbs, with 55 hp could still beat it in a race. Now, you take that sprint engine, place it in a mini, and it hauls ass. I know because a guy I wouk with has put turbo sprint engines into 3 different mini's so far, and they have all gone to guys in the states that thought it wasn't possible to make a mini fast, and reliable.
