Wish I still had the link, a 3000GT/Stealth Club went to a track and recorded all their runs, there were two or three of them running 10's, a half a dozen in the 11's, a dozen or so in the 12's, most the other turbo ones were in the 13's, there was one NA 3000GT SL running 13's on N20.

I've come to the conclusion that the local guy with the '99 3000GT VR4 won't race me. Nobody with a car that is even half-way fast will race my Omni. I guess it's time to sit back and wait for them to come to me.

There's a downside to owning a 3/S. Due to their aggressive styling, usually the only people who want to race them are vettes, vipers, Firebirds, etc... I find it funny he won't race teh Omni.

He's got a few buddies that own some newer LT1/LS1 F-bodies, but I'm pretty sure they just laugh off my Omni. They all hang out at a local stereo store. I've tried to race a handful of Corvettes lately and even a newer Porsche Carrera 4, and nobody will bite. I'm starting to think the only way to get a race is if I pre-arrange it somehow.

I've owned my car for roughly a month ('86 Omni GLH-T) and I have been going out every other night for the last month looking for races, no success. Not one person. I even posted on my cities local racing forum thinking one of the 1000 Civics here would bite. Nope.

I understand most people don't know about these cars, but the sound of a spooling turbo and 3" exhaust should at least get them thinking.. I hate racing myself.

It's easy for them to run a 12 because they are AWD. Rev to 6K and dump the clutch to do it. Unfortunately the hard pull starts to slow down on the top end of the track, but they make up for it at the launch. Their gearing is also very widely spaced. They'll do the 1/4 mile without getting out of third gear. Our cars on the other hand love the upper speed ranges. I'd run him from a roll. I think you'd have a good race with him.

for a turbo v6 the make amazing torque and their torque peak comes at like 3-4 k the weight is the killer and like the others said other than basic mods your looking at very expensive, even intercooler piping is expensive cuz they have a lot of piping. I wouldn't mess with one if i saw one, not unless i was in my friends soon-to-be-turbo-supra. I've seen some in magazines and arounfd town that are pretty impresive but the track ones i've seen in magazines etc. are stripped bare and still weight a lot.

I think if you wanna race them you should find one of the slower guys in their group and start talking smack. Eventually he race ya, hes gotta, to prove his manlihood. Then kick his ass and maybe they'll all want a piece.

LOL man I was thinking about getting a stealth RT TT AWD, but not only are these things extermely hard to work on, but the parts cost an arm and a leg to get and thats even if you can find the parts. There major weak spot defintely is thier tranny for some reason??? But, about your friend only getting 11k, damm he should have gotten more. these cars sell for alot of $ modded or not. That includes the 3000 GT. In the end I went with my good old 85 GLHT, easier to work on (somewhat lol), cheap to work on (somewhat lol), less $ to mod and go fast. I`m also having the same problem though, someone in my town owns a 3000 gt N/A , but its just the base model. Someone told him that I owned a GLH, that person forgot to tell him it was a GLHT, and he said he could beat me, also saying some other words describeing my car, some I cant mention here lol. I told him to put up or shut up. He saw the Turbo and he never said a word again. I forget the phrase, Humliation threw education. :big grin:

HUH? I can get a TT stealth or 3KGT for well under 10K here. In fact I saw a TT AWD stealth in the auto locator for $7K bone stock with 90K miles.

I think they're high 13s stock, and if I ever owned one I would take the Getrag gearbox and drop in an A543 from the 3.0 cars, yes it bolts up. can you believe it? It would make it only FWD but the trans is rated to 375 hp or so, common, and cheap!

I like the looks of the car...almost bought one in 92, but their main problem is their weight, expecially in AWD trim. I have never seen a really fast one, usually they stick in the 13's if they are tuned well.

Their styling got tired quick thats why toward the end of their life Mitsu put on those ridiculous huge wings on the rear in order to bring some life back to sales. Not...

They were supposed to be the replacement for the Starion/Conquest, and they looked cool when they first came out, but with typical Mitsu BS engineering, like the super fragile AWD system, it is tought to make the car kinda performance bulletproof....whereas you have lots of room with it's rival the last gen Supra.

BTW: My GMC stock Typhoon would spank them so easy it wasen't even funny...

i cant really disagree with you, because i really dont know. however i would think that it would be a combination of heavy car with people driving it like a honda... slamming gears etc and not being smooth. drivetrain shock is not good at all.

i think an awd setup with the v6 would be awesome in a pbody!
