I am putting new shocks on our 1 ton V10 '95 Ram and I think my dad bought the wrong shocks. They were only $20 ea/ for the fronts and the next up is $85. They said they were all for 3500's though. What works for sure and/or you think are good.

$20 EACH, what crap are they? I personally like the Rancho series, the 5000's work well and the 9000's are adjustable but pricey, my cost canadian, $130 each. The Monroe Gas Magnums are good and so are the Gabriel VST shocks, there around $95 each retail.

The $20 jobs were Monroe gas-matics. I ended up ordering Monroe Reflex at $40 each. Monroe claims they are better than Gas Magnums!?

I replaced the rear ones and they were a pain with 9 years of MI rust on them. Any tips on replacing the fronts? They look even more fun...

The Reflex's are a good choice, do you use it for work?

No tips really, just use lots of penetrating fluid and presoak.

Yup work and play. It hauls in the bed as well as a 20' car trailer for hauling material and the occasional car.

I wouldn't use the Reflex for towing, I think the Ranchos or the other Gabriels would be a better choice!

I can't fight city hall on this one unfortunately, as it is not my truck alone. I had to con him up to $40 a shock, lol. If it were up to me, I'd straight take your advice. I had no idea my only options to give him were in the $65+ (US) range.

Thanks for your advice. I think the ones I got should outlive a gas truck that has 5000 miles a year put on it now, however.
