Also, the earlier question about interference engines. Yes, they are. The japanese love their interference engines like dodge loved their valvetrain noise
However, being a 1984 turbo it's running like 7.8:1 compression. I've heard that the old turbos are about a 50/50 chance of damaging something... The belt isn't bad at all though... once the shroud and fan is out of your way, there's a surprising amount of room in there. While you're in there... go ahead and change the CHTS and subharness (cylinder head temperature sensor) as it is a ***** to get to later and they can cause all kinds of wonky problems. If it's not doing anything strange I'd go ahead and change the subharness anyway. I've been told it's not a bad idea to do the tensioner, water pump, thermostat, and cam seals while you're at it either. <shrug>
Wiring can very much be a nightmare on these cars at times, but they are quite fun and usually worth the effort. I've been told it's not a bad idea to do the tensioner, water pump, thermostat, and cam seals while you're at it either. <shrug>
I don't know if you guys know this or not, but 1984 turbo 300zs, even the automatics are putting down 160 hp to the ground and that's on 5(!!) psi of boost. Stock injectors are supposed to be good for around 300 horsepower at the crank. 7.8 compression, 5 psi of boost, injectors good for 300 ponies... hmm... totally untweakable.
