Well, I bought a Porsche over the weekend.
1984 944 coupe with a 2.5L N/A, 18,000 miles (may have wrapped around once or twice)
I had seen these selling for $5000 lately so when i saw this one for $2700 I snatched it up, not sure it was worth it though?
Anyway the Body is in pretty good shape, the interior is a bit of a mess, broken switches, loose seats, cracked dash.
I know the later 944's had a 250hp turbo engine so I was wondering if anyone has some tips on converting this one to a turbo car?
I imagine it would cost me an arm and a leg to use Porsche parts.

So what do you guys think?

Pelican-parts.com

And yes, the 944 N/A is a waste of a good chassis.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 944. It was an 84 as well, non-turbo. They are not fast, but they are an absolute pleasure to drive. Your best bet for converting to a turbo car is to just buy one. Renegade Hybrids has a kit for sticking a V8 in one, but people's results have varied.

Wire it with Dodge electronics and MAP, stick a turbo on it and tune with D-Cal. The Ford 2.3 boys are doing it, why not a Porsche?

You're thinking of the 968. Never available turbocharged, but people have pulled it off. Huntley Racing had a car they called the "Zebra Car" with something like 800hp a few years back. Race only 951, with a stroked 3.0L block.

btw in case the point hasnt been made yet the 944 n/a motor is a piece of crap not able to take boost. Big difference between it and the 944 turbo of later years.
