...would the bottom end of a 3.5 in a '93 Intrepid hold? I'm thinking about
150 hp with a fuel pump upgrade. Just for fun, I'm going to see if I can get the barge into the mid 13's.

I'd guess you'd be ok with 150 hit on it as long as you add enough fuel.

Yeah, I ran across one. High 13's is fast, and exhaust backpressure is a good thing.
From what little bit of research I did, it looks like they came with a forged crank and cross bolted mains stock. It seems like it should be plenty stout. I'll probably toss in a set of bearings for safety sake.
Anybody care to take a guess as to wether or not an inline 255 lph pump plus the stock in-tank pump would be enough for what I'm after?
Thanks,
Tony

the early 3.5's 94 or 95ish had forged bottoms because nascar was gonna have a v6 class but then dropped it, a chryslr engineer told me if your port the heads, intake, bore the tb, and open exhaust they really get movin, those were the best bottoms of all the 3.5's

Cool! Thanks for the info guys. I'm gonna give it a bit more than 100 hp (maybe as much as double that eventually), but if it lets go, I'm out an $800 car, so no big deal...
Hopefully it'll be enough to make some of the guys at the local strip scratch their heads a bit before it lets go.
I wonder if there are any mods short of a complete rebuild that I could do to the tranny to help it live? Also, still wondering about the fuel pump, any thoughts?

first gen intrepid injector are 22pph and i think will only support up to about 300hp. you cannot get different injectors for a 1st gen that will drop right in, because they are off the wall side fed injectors. Things you can do that dont require gettting deep into the trans are a shift kit http://www.northernautoparts.com/Pro...ctModelId=2489
ATF+4 fluid and a trans cooler. Still the pre'99 trans arent as stout as the newwer ones.
Please keep me posted. If you want you could head over to www.dodgeintrepid.net and find some decent info. I am LH_Chris on that board. I must warn you, that forum is hard to stomach because its full of so many dumbasses.

Thanks for the help. I ordered the shift kit a few minutes ago.
I registered for di.net a few days ago but haven't posted yet. If things work out the way I'd like for them to, my first post will be a pic of a timeslip and a link to a video.
Hopefully in the low 13 sec. range.

I dont see how the transmission is a weakness. Sure the computer kills the lifetime of the trans, but strengthwise those internals are a LOT stronger then any 3 speed in a TD.

That's good to hear. Hopefully with the shift kit, a big cooler, and some fresh fluid it'll last awhile.
The nitrous kit is here. It's sitting in the back seat waiting to be installed. I need to get some other parts first though. I'm not convinced that I'll get even distribution with 1 fogger nozzle to supply both throttlebodies, so I'm going to "T" after the solenoids and run 2 nozzles. One in front of each tb. That way I'll know I'm getting even distribution between banks. I'll probably start out with jetting for 25 hp in each nozzle (50 total) and work up from there.

Tony,
How's this project coming along? Hows the 3.5L liking the NOS?
How are you adding extra fuel? Cold start injectors? RRR? Alcohol? (nitrous and alcohol, now theres a combination for you) lol
Just curious.
