i installed my boost and A/F gauges today my GTS is parked for now so i swiped 'em from that car. my FWDPerformance Daytona pillar pod fits GREAT! it fits my Cutlass alot better than it does my GTS. right now boost spikes to 9psi for a split second than it holds a rock steady 8psi. no creep whatsoever. i haven't wired up the A/F gauge yet, but i should have that done tomarrow.

however, my gauge is reading almost 2.5psi with key on engine off (see pics). so i'm assuming i'm running an actual 5-6psi. i don't know if there is a way to recalibrate this gauge or not. maybe i should just buy a new electronic boost gauge instead.

right now the car is running fine except when i hit about 4700 RPMs. the car just seems to completely cut out. i don't know if the boost is blowing out the spark or if my ignition system is weak or what. i'm going to gap the plugs down to .040 and see if that helps.

i gapped them down to .040 today and it seemed to help. my ICM, coilpacks, and wires have 230,000 miles on them so i believe that's the problem.

well surprisingly the problem i thought was ignition related has went away as i raised the boost. it doesn't cut out at all anymore. my guess is it must have been running too rich at 7psi. right now i am running 11psi. it spikes to 13psi but then quickly levels off at 11psi. A/F guage still shows 18-19 lights at WOT so all is good. it is definately faster than my T2 Lebaron GTS.

anyways, i finally have a BOV. i used the ATP weld-on adapter and bought my brother's TurboXS RFL. i love how it sounds, and no more compressor surge.

lower intercooler pipe with ATP adapter:

TurboXS RFL installed:

this project is almost done for now, i'm looking forward to starting on my GTS again this winter.

oh, i also tried using my brother's ATP RS modular BOV. it sounds a little different from the RFL of course:

well i finally got the Cutlass to the dynojet. had to drive 6hrs down to Denver and managed 31mpg/hwy on the way down.

1st pull:

226.2whp/326.8wtq

2nd pull:

227.1whp/325.8wtq

quite a torque monster to say the least. that was running 10-12psi (boost gauge is messed up). i thought i would be happy with 190whp/230wtq so the numbers the car actually put down blew me away! not bad for a 230,000 mile shortblock that has never been rebuilt

i also met up with a guy at the dyno meet and traded my T2 GTS for a '90 ASC/McLaren Grand Prix Turbo STE. so no more TDs for me....until i find a Spirit R/T lol.

i think the blue run was done in 3rd and the red one was in 4th gear.

this one shows my 227.1whp run with A/F:

and this one is the 227whp/325wtq run by itself:

Wow, you are pig rich.

Awesome to see you dyno though. I dont know if Im willing to do that since I dont have spark control.....

My car picked up a LOT of butt dyno power when I tuned from 8-9:1 a/f to 11.8-12.2 a/f's.

You need a bigger turbo!!!!!

the T25 and crossover pipe on my TSTE are shot. i think i'm going to put my rebuilt crossover pipe and good T25 that is on my Cutlass right now onto the TSTE. then i'll work on getting a crossover pipe made with a T3 flange and get a T3/T04E hybrid for the Cutlass. that's for next year though. i still need to get a WB, a laptop and an EPROM burner. hopefully i can get it tuned a little better....maybe even run the car on the dyno again before i go with a bigger turbo.
