If you want to use the mechanical pump, then I believe any block up to and including 1988. You'd just need to remove the block off plate on the turbo and TBI block and install the pump You could use a 89 up common block, but you'd need to run an electric pump.

you're building yourself a circle track racer, right?? try finding a 2.5 tallblock, and run a long rod 2.2. check this link out, may be of interest to you.

Ack.. Never read that longrod article before.. Sounds like a PITA.. Custom rods, custom pistons.. Bleh.. Sure would be nice with a hybrid head tho..

that article is just a guideline....from a PM from 22dodge, here's his take on the situation

"Some CHEAP performance mods I have done for a 2.2 was to use turbo pistons, mill them to a flat top and use 1986 2.5 rods. this rods measure 6.125" vs 5.94 for the 2.2. the longer rod increased torque on my circle track engine by creating a higher dwell for the piston at TDC."

He did it using a 2.2 block, I shoulda posted this before that article....

You could do a long rod 2.2 with the 87/88 2.5 rods and 89+ 2.5 TBI pistons. Though if you didn't mill any the compression would be about 8to1. Though the 2.5 tallblock carb would be a nice engine.
