The early engines that used the G head have flat tops.

86 was the swirl head. They had the valve trench that I have been told is 4.8cc's. So I take it that you arn't going to run a 2.5 then.. everything I have said is for the 2.2. If you want flat tops for the 2.5 you can use the 84-85 2.2 pistons in a 87-88 2.5 engine. If you want some options I can list some NA setups with there compression ratio using stock parts.

U.R. SOL on cheap flat-tops for the acclaim unless it's a 2.2 (not likely) the 2.5 common block does not have any off the shelf flat-top pistons, but like in my PM to you there is a way to do that... however if you are planing on racing an acclaim you're NUTZ, that car is tooo big and heavy. you should be looking for an omni/charger/shadow before wasting your time with that pig. Weight is everthing in 4 cyl racing. and that car will put you a lap down to a pinto, chevette, vega or even a Yugo.

my bad. for your omni, just run the stock 2.2, get rid of all the feedback stuff, use a weber carb, mill the head .100 and get a 1 tooth shorter timing belt and offset cam keys, ditch all the stock electronics and use a ford TFI ignition module for spark. this is really easy to wire up. set you timing at 36° and you will be able to race surprisingly well for less than $200 motor investment. however if you get fast, you MUST do something with the oil pan to prevent all the oil from running away from the pickup tube and smoking the bottom end.
