so im reading the sticky and it seems the ignition system can help free up some power. I thought i read on the dodge garage that there really wasnt much extra power to be found in the ignition system but ill give it a shot.
so heres what im looking at:
cap+rotor w/brass points (bluestreak?)
Accel Coil - 140021
Magnecor 8.5mm wires - 45153
NGK V-power plugs - 2635
any recomendations? part numbers look right? anything else i should upgrade?
anyone try this? results?

Don't bother with that coil. I've used Accel and MSD units, with decent results. But I just love the Ford coil I have installed.

Blue Streak etc. You have to remember, the plug wires have the terminals, not the cap. Get a good set of wires, Aurora, Magnacore.

...and stay as far away from that Accel Coil as you can. I've never had any luck with any Accel product and could fill an entire thread just with the many Accel part failures me and my family have endured over the years.

A fresh coil wouldn't hurt, forgot to add that. MSD replacements are fine as are aftermarket stockers, IE Blue Streak, Neihoff etc.

I second that. I had a yellow accel coil in my satellite for all of a couple months before it took a poop on me, and I was running the proper ballast and everything. I bought another and it was running stupid right out of the box. I went to the junkyard and pulled one out of a 80's dodge ram, worked like a charm. I returned the coil I could, threw the other one in the garbage and sucked up my loss.

Accel product failures within my family:
- SB Mopar distributor, siezed bushings less than 2k miles
- SB Mopar wires, removed same day of installation because the old 100k wires ran better
- 5.2 Magnum coil, never made it out of town before dying
- Round coil on '73 Ford, died after 5k miles
I'll never buy another Accel product, buy family members keep trying them.
