I just picked up my 93 sundance with a 5speed. Is there a better shifter I can put in there? Its seems like a nice shifter, but it doesn't feel as smooth as other cars I have had.

I did some research and found out that the Neon shifter is different then the Sundance. Can I retrofit a Neon shifter into the sundance??

The neon short throw shifter should be a direct replacement for your current shifter. You might also want to get booger bushings for the transmission end of the shifter cables. The bushings make a huge difference in my opinion.

Even better bushings to the Boogerbushings are units made of Delrin. I have a set from CNNP and I wouldn't get rid of them for anything. I've had Boogerbushings installed on a Duster. I like them. They were much better than stock. But nothing compairs to the feel of the Delrin bushings.

But I agree with Topdollar69 on this. The Neon, not the srt4, shifter is just about direct replacement to our shifters.

Just about a direct replacement? What do you have to modify and is it worth it? I admit I am getting used to the cluckyness of the sundance shifter, but I would like a smoother shift. Strangely, I like the L-body shifter much more then the p-body (?) one. Clutch is way less travel and the Sundance shifter locks me out of gears when I am a little to high. I realize the reason, but thats not the way I drive. I don't like being told what I can and can not do. But alas, could I take the B&M racing stick and install it into the sundance housing? Or if I need to replace the whole shifter first, what do I need to do that? Who sells booger bushings?
On a side note, it would appear that CNNP racing is no more. I did some searching, found a link. When I tried the link it took me to a search site.
Thanks
David

direct replacement no modifications to anything did a side by side comaprison they are exatly the same cept the bm top lever is a little shorter.(no bonus to shortening throw) actually makes it more difficult to get into those "barred" gears.

I've found that only one person makes the delrin shifter bushings anymore. I think you can find them at http://www.cheetahonline.com/f2022.html. I've purchased my motor mounts from him. I was very satisfied with the front mount. But the Trans mount insert was less than to be desired (substandard machining). Others who have purchased parts from him were rather disappointed with his products. The largest documented issue was the chrysler 3.0L intake plenum spacer kits he sells. He advertises that the bolts are included with the spacers. However, these bolts are SAE and the intake requires metric. They are advertised as being SAE, so those who have purchased his kit didn't take into account that the metric bolts were necessary and wound up stripping the threads of thier lower intake runners with the SAE units.

I'd at least have a look at the products. Since he's the only fabricator of the delrin shifter bushings, I'd at least give it a try. If you don't like them, you won't be out too much money. But, if they are machined properly, I highly recommend then over the polyeurothane BoogerBushings.
