Hey all! I'm looking at possibly picking up a 1990 2.5 TBI and converting it over the MPFI. Few questions here...
1. What will I need to do this, assuming I can retain the stock SBEC and recalibrate it with the Mexican MPFI non-turbo cal (which I have?) I'm thinking the intake, injectors, fuel rail, and TB from a later turbo car. Anything else that I'm missing?
2. Um, has anyone done this before? (with a Mexican 2.5 cal)
I know MegaSquirt's been done successfully before, but I'm nightmare cheap
Thanks in advance, I'll fire as much rep points as I can

I'm also interested in this for my 87 TBI Lebaron, so if it's not costly I'd be willing to try it out.

Care to e-mail me that cal? I'd love to take a look at it. I have a plan for a 2.4 NA engine for the race car in the future...

Why not just use the flex-fuel computer? Easier to find and $30 at the junkyard.

Exactly.
Doc: I don't see how a FFV puter could possibly be easier to find than a turbo, unless they made WAY more flexfuels than I thought? It'd be fun to play with, though.
If anyone wants the Mexican cal, just PM me your email and I'll fire 'er over

I thought you were just going to MPFI, not turbo. Are you talking about using a turbo computer and recalibrating it for non-turbo use? I still think it would be easier to find a flex fuel car. The methanol sensor was down by the tank to pick up the % of meth in the fuel. You wouldn't need to add it to your car. They still ran on straight gas. I saw two flex fuelers in the junkyard the last time I went. A lot less hastle that getting a SBEC and reclaibrating it. And you wouldn't need an AFPR then.

on my 89 k wagon 2.5, which is going w/ modded 2.5/3spd out of my old dynasty, im going the full spirit ffv route. t1 intake w/ stainless injectors, stainless fuel lines and hoses, 18 gallong plastic tank, etc, etc, etc. when the time comes, i'll have to pick up an ffv spirit to steal all the parts from!

Sounds like an easy route to me. Just make sure it's a turbo SBEC, the TBI SBEC probably won't have the extra injector drivers..
