I would like people to post their first hand experince of the removal of balance shafts.

I am rebuilding a motor and I trying to decide whether or not to install the balance shafts.
I am not looking for power so much as fuel economy and durability.

First hand experience right here.

I removed the balance shafts in my 2.5L N/A Shadow.
I would not recommend it. I did it for mileage too, in which I noticed no difference. No difference in power. But I feel it vibrate more. On the highway, the rear view mirror vibrates like hell and it pisses me off to no end.

It's easy enough to do, though.

my 2.5 dakota never came with balance shafts and it seems to run just fine. 184,000 miles on it and still original. I've built a lot of 2.5 w/o balance shafts. no noticable difference. however running 12-14:1 compression is noticable
