Yup.. Now if the Omni is '88 or '89, try to find an '88 or '89 van, as you won't have to relocate any pins if the car and the harness is the same year. It's only 2 pins to move to put an '89 harness into an '88 Omni tho..So it's not life or death, but if you have a choice...
The harness is really the easiest part. The hard part will be shoehorning that beast into the Omni. Why not stuff in a 3.8L? Now THAT would be cool.

Cause the 3.0 has a 5sp trans for it and the 3.3 3.8 only has the junk ruber band drive.

did manage to find a 3.0 88 van at the junkers. actually 3 of them lol. didnt get to get the harness today though. and the sundance donor car is a 91. would there be any issues using a 91 engine and 5 speed tranny with the 88 harness? also i should grab the mounts from the 91 car right? gotta make something work. and all accessories? i do wanna keep power steering but not the air. thats what 4 windows are for haha.

Grab the '88 engine harness (plugs into the injectors, alternator, sensors, etc), just to be sure you have no problem plugging the engine into the car. I had to change the engine harness when I put the '87 engine into the '95 van..

Broaden your search, automatics were very common in Omni's and Horizon's in '88-'89.. Converting it to 5 speed is no big deal, especially since you'll have to convert to cable shift anyways.

you are going to need newer style shifter stuff.

Also, you will probably have some problems with the radiator and fan. The stock 3.0 fan is lower profile then the 4 cylinder fans. In an omni, im sure this problem will be worse.

i can use the shifter and cables from the sundance right? its a 91 with the 3.0 and 543. what would be best suggestion for radiator and fan then? i would like to REALLY find a 5 speed omni or horizon but i guess i could settle with an auto and convert it.

You should be able to use them cables shifter fine. I put a cable shited 525 in a 85 glht. I welded the shifter to the floor. It worked pretty good. And for a radiator just use the omni one. I am sure it would work fine. and use a newer lowprofile fan, if it will fit.

Yup, only hard part is the pedals and on a omni its not hard anyhow.

I'd get the engine/tranny bolted into the car, and then see how much space you have left for a radiator. Nothing like having to buy two because the first one didn't fit..

I would go this route.

Ive always wanted to build a 3.0 omni. Now that I have a P body that wont be happening. I hope I get get the duster down somewhere near L body weight.

ok bolting in engine and tranny and doing mounts sounds like the best first step. like that one said might be easier if the k frame is removed. good time to spot weld it up tight and paint it and the underside and the control arms with some por-15 while its out to. ok but what about axels? use glht intermediate shaft and 2 88-90 tbi automatic axels? i know this things gonna have some torque steer. and for the shifter and cables i think that the sundance stuff should work fine. after all if you put a 568 or 555 or whatever sort you use p body shifter and cables right? so 543 should work same way then i assume. and as for the radiator i guess we will try the stocker for now and see how that goes or maybe scrounge the junkyard and see what we can come up with. the power steering is gonna take some enginuity. im thinking mount it where the ac compressor is no longer gonna be. as far as suspension i have a glht steering rack and pump. are they faster ration or any better? and i am gonna try and get some glht front hubs and covert the whole car to 5 lug. glht shocks struts and and maybe some lower and stiffer springs. and imma grab the rear disk setup from the sundance and the master cylinder and prop valve to. anything else that might need covered?
