With a 70-200°F drop in air temperature, couldn't intercooling be applied to a N/A application?

it would be more of a restriction than anything, you may actually break even with it or lose a little.

the reason why boosted cars use it is because the turbo creates alot of heat....on a n/a car a CAI works better

Just run dry ice cooled alcohol through the coolant passages on your intake . . . & enjoy the horrible drivability. ;-)

Sorry, that's the not the way intercooling works. The most it can cool air down to is near outside temp, which is what your engine is already sucking in if you have a cai. Hot turbo compressed air on the other hand is really hot so an intercooler will try to cool it down as much as it can. This can lower the air temp by lots of degrees because the intercooler is cool comprared to the compressed air.

Actually, dude, i'me quite well aware of what the purpose of intercooling is & why it wouldn't work on an NA engine. I was just thinking of the water passages in carb & TBI manifolds & somwhat trying to be funny.
