Just wondering how much of a hp gain I could get from milling a head down on a Carbed or TBI 2.2 ? Also what would be if any ill effects of doing this ? Any drivability issues? I do know that if it's milled to much I'll need a one tooth shorter belt
Thanks
Robb

from what i hear from allmotor, you get a solid 20hp from milling the head 0.060. the only ill effect is that your cam timing will be slighty off(about 2*) and you will only be able to run premium fuel.

Unless you have the right tools, there is NO way you can centerline your cam. you need a degree wheel, dial indicators and a lot of patience. if you mill your head, .060 a rough guess on cam timing is you will need to advance the cam 2°. this can be done very easy with just using a MP offset keys P4349650 you will also need P4452014 and p4452990 and P4286776 and many more tools. being you are a TD member, this stuff will be too expensive for your one time use, so just mill the head and run it, if you don't like the performance toss in a 2° off set key, if you are truely the typical TD owner, then you can get around the cost of offset keys by being creative with a Dremmel tool, modifying your stock key then using shim stock to make the changes.

Also being a TD person, you just have to own a copy of the 2.2/2.5 FWD book (any edition will work). in the cam section, they walk you thru step by step the centerlineing proceedure. no pics, so it makes it a little harder to understand what all is happening. also try www.iskycams.com the have a generic cam centerlining instructions with pics for easier comprehension

call a shop and get a price, it's IMPOSSIBLE to predict prices... around here it ranges from $100 to $500 depending on the shop, time of year, etc. etc. etc. for street use, you would notice NOTHING, in racing you may notice a tenth off lap times, on the dyno, less than 10hp on a 300+hp engine assuming you are not way off to begin with.
