I race a 91 shadow at a circle track, i was on allpar and thedodgegarage and did pretty much everything i could get away with to my car that i read on thoses sites. I had an 87 2.5 tall deck block with the 87 2.5 rods and crank with 2.2 comon block pistons, dropped teh balance shafts, etc etc. I ran a few races at the end of last year with it and it ran fine till i fried the computer, then this year for my first night out and take it out in practice and teh motor seizes on me, and i assmued i lost oil pressure.......until i tore into the motor yesterday and found all this......(sorry for teh big pics)

Upon pulling the motor i noticed a nice rod shaped dent in the oil pan

One of two windows in the block

bearing

Something missing here.......

Piston #3

#3 again, were did the rest of it go?

Oh, there it is...... along with half the rod

the otehr half the rod still attached to the crank, never did get it off there for my collection of destruction, welded on there good.

oil pump

no idea what caused it all, originally thought it was the oil running away from teh pickup in the corners, but this looks a little more serious than that, any comments, sugestions or ideas, I love to hear em ... also anyone know whats susposed to be on teh end of my oil pump, lol
thanks

Edit: plus every piston ring was in quite a few pieces.....what causes teh rings to snap like that?

big time sucking air. you MUST baffle your pan!!!!!! detonation or running very lean will destroy rings, ditch the tbi and go carb, use ford tfi ign, module on stock dist. set timing @ 38°

welded in the baffles today
I dunno about going to carbs, i was gunna experament with MPFI first but was pondering going carbed for a bit still undecided, gunna see if i can get away with MPFI first, and i know it looks liek pre ignition or soemthing but i was running very rich and then my O2 sensor magically found it self out of my exhaust manifold and swinging ariound in teh engine bay.....think that could have anything to do with it.....I have no idea how it worked itself free, i'm 100% postive it was in tehre when i went on teh track cause i saw it just befor ei went out.

If the O2 was loose in the cold air it just lean it self out till it died. you got alot of damage there. I drove a friend of my sundance once with a rod knock and didn't get to far before it clunk out and there was hole in the pan, block, and the balance shafts where rip off the botton of the block. Still got some of the pieces laying around.
