So....what do you think an 85 Charger with a 4speed and completely stripped out will get for gas mileage?

I bought my 94 Shadow 2.5 TBI 3-speed auto from a friend. He had put a mild cam into the junkyard motor we swapped into it a year before. New water pump. Aprox. 100,000 miles on it. It got 23MPG.

I replaced the stock coil with a MSD unit, replaced the entire exhaust, (cat included) and a Magnaflow muffler, head gasket, timing belt, accy belts, cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, tranny fluid and filter, coolant, coolant and heater core hoses, oil pressure sensor, O2 sensor, and battery.

Now I get 24MPG.

Suck!

I'm pondering using my Gen I Megasquirt to convert it to MFI. Anyone here using a MegaSquirt in N/A mode got a tune for me? lol

I am truly impressed! I've never been able to get those numbers without other mileage mods. Was it stock? Did you tweek the carb or other parts any? I've never heard of one getting that stock.

I average around 30mpg in a 86 turismo 120,000 miles on it running like crap.Backfire when warming, stumble's at even speeds.Smells like gas is on drip in the cab.Only runs smooth when accelerating.Wonder what its going to get with a new webber.

first, I drive very conservatively. and I played around with jets and emulsion tubes. realize this was on a car that was 4 years old and had under 60,000 miles back in 1990.

my current commuter vehicle is a 1995 TBI 5speed (non-mopar), worst fuel mileage was 38 best mileage so far has been 51.3 mpg.

My 98 base motored Neon was rated at 39 with the 5 speed. On long trips it would get 40-42 if driven with no a/c, no defrost and closed windows. Every time I made a hp gain it did better. The biggest gains were under drive pulley set up and getting rid of terrible stock a/f assemnly. Gutted cat with a downstream O2 and resistor and Flowmax muffler helped too, but so did bigge TB and Indy Cylinder Head intake. This was my dailey driver and the only wt reduction was frt passenger seat remval. Changing out the ECU also helped...
at 80 mph it would drop to a still great 35-37! I traded it for a 05 SRT4 that gets a best of 28.5 and then at 80 drops to 26-27....but with no nitrous in use it is MUCH more fun!

I know I already posted but since moving to the north I have gotten increasingly crappier gas mileages. I guess my little motor just doesn't know how to breathe up here in the mountains. However, as old as it may sound, I think one of the biggest improvements can be made in the exhaust. I got a spare manifold that I wanted to clean up a bit and play with. Holy sh!t was that choked up, I think I removed over half an inch of casting flash from the collector, but such is life. Hope my mileage increases as summer approaches.

With my 93 2.5 tbi 5-spd Daytona. When i first bought it, I was getting 26 MPG, After doing some work, I found out the timing was off. After straightening the timing. it rose to 28. Now I've cut the ac belt, swapped over to a Omni airbox, gutted it, sealed it, covered it in heat reflection material, dropped in a K&N filter and made my own ram-air/cold-air induction system for it that still runs the air through the ECU for cooling purposes. And now I getting 33 MPG. Still haven't chopped off the cat or put a wider pipe on it. Can't wait to see what I get after that. If your internested in what I did, email me at danielmathis@hotmail.com and I'll give you the run down.

The odometer in my 88 tbi daytona was broken, so i have no idea. I just know it was doing pretty well. I'm guessing at least 23.

I know this won't interest probably any of you, especially since this is a dodge forum, but i have a 93 3.0 ranger 5 speed, and i do better than my mom's pt cruiser. I have to be getting at least 27, possibly even 30 mpg in it!
