After messing with the fuel sytem, it seemed a better idea to move on. Leaving te old tbi pump with new fuel sock, and new fuel filter in place; it was time to check the ignition. lugs were fairly new, as were the wires. The rotor looked worn, and the coil was a mystery. Went ahead and bought a new coil and rotor from advanced. Started it up and let it do it's thing. No stalling, and no sputtering. Problem solved. As for the fuel pump, there was a different reaction when it was installed (stallwhen gas pedal was pressed), but cannot be sure if it was helping or not. At least I have some newer fuel lines installed now, and not the dry-rotted stuff from way back when.
Now to get my brakes done...
