We will be running a 89 daytona 2.5 mpi at our local circle track and i would like to get some help from those who have run mopars. rules say we have to run f.i. if it came with it or carb if that is what it came with and factory electronics. what i want to do is use a 89 turbo mpi setup w/turbo electronics. because the rules don't say anything about changing the type of f.i. what do i need to do to do this swap and do the turbo electronics still have good maps when not in boost. what is a good factory exhaust manifold to use? thx in advance for any help

Don't think I would run the turbo electronics, fuel curve and timing will not be correct for a non turbo. But on the flip side my sister ran her car for a few years with a turbo computer, it was a throttle body engine. If the track says anything tell them it is a Flex fuel vehicle, they used the turbo intake and MPI system. You could also use a flex fuel computer but the chances of finding one of them will be hard. Where you at in VA?

i would go with a turbo wiring harness and computer and just zener diode the TPS so it never sees WOT

i would use 2.2 t1 injectors since they are the smallest with an AFPR, and tune it to where you need it

doesn't matter if you're floored or not the computer only gives the amount of fuel for the amount of vac/boost it see's. So if all you can get is 0psi then that's the amount of fuel you're gonna get. Turbo puters will run an n/a no problem. Just make sure to match the Map sensor to the computer.

for a lot less money and a TON more performance, put on a carb. just call your car a 1983 Mexican Daytona, they cam carburated. then for really cheap money, use a 1986-1988 2.5 engine but install 1985 2.2 flat top pistons. this will get you the power you need to keep up with the Honda's. also spend a lot and I mean a lot of time on oil pan design to keep oil around the pickup tube. now to make the car handle, install a #350-#400 spring in the RR and #300-#350 on both fronts. this will give you a great starting point on making the car handle

you have to use injection if that year came w/it or carb if that year came w/it.
you can not do any internal modifications to the rotating assembley. i have all kinds of parts for the old mini stock class which was 4cyl unlimited but you can no longer use any of those parts. they are trying to make the class less expensive and more equal.

Change F.I. from fuel injection to forced induction and you'll be ok.
