Been looking on ebay for weber 32/36 carbs and saw several that looks very promising.

But I noticed some is progressive, some are vacuum secondary type, some
had throttle lever on either side etc.

If i go with progressive 32/36 will that be fine or stick with vacuum secondary?

Anything to watch out when I buy used one?

And online searches found that you can do the bushings rebuild yourself which is big bonus, especially cannot do this on 5220 holley carbs.

This goes on the 2.2L in place of Holley 5220 junk. That old clunker is very thirsty and leaking enough to affect idle speed.

I just recently purchased a Weber dgav carb to replace my holley 6520 and the only "gotcha" I have run in to so far is that the throttle cable and linkage need to be modified since they have to go on the opposite side of the carburetor. If you want to avoid this problem you could look for the weber dfev, it is a direct replacement for the holley. If you end up getting one of the dgv series carbs let me know, I found an easy and very effective way to modify the throttle cable and linkage. When you sit the weber carb next to the holley, the difference in quality is unbelievable. You really can't go wrong wrong with a weber. Although I would stay away from anything that has a vaccuum secondary. I am sure there are good ones but in my experience nearly every carb with a vaccuum secondary that I've owned the secondaries have quit opening after a relatively short period of time. Have fun, there are plenty of good deals to be had on used Webers.

Dan,

THANK YOU!! Now I feel better about this!

Now I can pick either DGAV or DGV off ebay, I don't mind playing with choke manually.

Was yours from ebay as well?

I picked mine up on e-bay. Cheapest place I could find to get one. There's nothing wrong with the dfev, dfav, etc. I just went with the dgav since there seemed to be more dgav and dgev's on e-bay and I got a good price on it.

Just picked up 2 DFEV carbs on Ebay for cheap, they have the linkage on the correct side.

About a week ago, scored myself a DFEV as well, off a VW aircooled. The guy selling this weber said had a 89 caravan with 2.2 carb, he knew about holley junk. Waiting for weber to arrive.

I asked him why chrysler did this with that 2.2 so late for 89 he said might had been leftover stuff.

Truth in that?

Is this weber's particular setup good enough to slap on 2.2? Or I need to know
the jets and emulsion tube numbers that works best with 2.2?

I have sent a email to weber and they don't responded over a week ago.

Cheers, Wizard
