2.5 to 2.2

can i put a 1985 reliant 2.2 carbed engine into my 1987 2.5 carbed car? i think i have heard before that it would drop right in. can someone confirm this or what would i need to do or change over or is this a straight forward swap?

Really depends on the amount of bolts on the end of the crank.....early 85's had 6 bolt and later had 8........also if it is a early 85 and an automatic the torque converter will only be a 3 bolt vrs the later 85 that being a 4 bolt torque converter
