I know this has prolly been asked eleventy billion times, but, what can I do to make this thing a fun N/A weekend car without breaking the bank.

other than basic bolt-ons like header, exhaust, new carb( which one's best???)

It's the carb'd one from what I have read on here boosting it is difficult, that should be the hood that belongs on it if I'm not mistaken.

haha yeah, i only paid 500 USD for it too, I guess i will do bpu's then spray. sounds like the cheapest way to make the terd fast haha, its basically a fun toy that i use on delivery, I DD a 2006 Nissan Sentra Spec V.

During making it faster, im going to go ahead and replace the struts and saggy ass springs with sleeve coilovers and Sears special struts!!!

How does 450lbfr/350lbrr springs sound?

i have no idea what the stock rates are. suspension stuff for L bodies is notoriously scarce, which is a shame, because the cars handle like mad when they are set up right

pay the big money for the full koni coilover kit that fwdperformance sometimes has in stock, convert it to 4 wheel disc and it will be a gokart

omnis are addicting.. im on my 5th one

easy - swap from a later daytona / lebaron / shadow; you have a choice of 10" non-vented (more than adequate for spirited driving) or 11" vented (for all-out track performance)

its a pretty straightforward bolt-on; toughest part is getting the right prop valve / master cylinder combo (try to get from the donor car)

I have the 10" on the back of my '86 omni

google 'SLH brakes' for lots of brake upgrade info

i have 10 inch rear disc and oversized front calipers off of a minivan and the thing brakes rediculously.

thats one the coolest things about omnis.. a lot of standard parts off of other, heavier cars can be had in the junkyard for next to nothing, and on a tiny little omni they function as performance stuff

my front calipers cover damn near half of the rotor.. they are giant for the size and weight of the car... it costs thousands do do similar things on a lot of other cars

as i said earlier.. omnis kick ass

for under $70 and a few hours labor, you can increase HP by 20. just pull the head, have it milled .060" toss it back on with a new head gasket

Hooker longtube hedder from autozone $240 w/ a 2.25'' exhaust , cut about .030"-.060" off the head with the MP 767 cam $130, then gut the hell out of it! Should be near as fast as a stock T1 car at least!

My old GLH HO had just a 2.25'' catback and was gutted and that was it. It was a blast to play with.

My current '84 GLH with a MP hedder, 2.25'' exhaust, MP 767 Cam, head milled .030'', and just an a/c delete was quick enough to hang with my cousins low 15sec Neon R/T. And with a turbo clutch it could chirp 4th gear!

I love the carbd Shelby cars! They can be alot of fun!

Hey cool, i have an '85 GLH as well. My mom bought it a year old in '86 (one owner) and loved it. It was parked beside my garage for a few years and i'm going to restore it soon.
Here it is:

Where did you find that car? I've been looking everywhere in my area and i can barley find any Omni Americas let alone GLH's. A good parts car would come in handy. O ya and that is the right hood.
