This motor is obviously old and the beauty of the carbed motor is the noise, this thing sounds like it has a cam, like a small block chevy. is it possible to swap the slider set up to the a roller set up?

I imagine it can be done but I don' think you would have the proper duration, overlap and cam dynamics to make a carb'd engine work effectively. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to try an 88 tbi roller, but don't quote me on this.lol as always, any modifications done are at your own risk. See if you can find some specs on your current cam and a roller cam and compare.

Damn right, get 1988 TBI 2.2 camshaft and roller rockers with good set of adjusters to mix and match, at least one of adjusters is soft. Bonus is being 1988 camshaft, that meant square tooth belt is used too so alignment is not a issue.

This is what I use in my caravan. Wakes up around 3,000.

Still using 287/bathtub head? (Important!)

^^^The question is it being carb'd..Was your mini carb'd. I know the turbo cams could possibly have larger or shorter duration and overlap would be different than a carb type cam. It may effect the scavaging effect required for proper combustion chamber clearing of exhaust and vacuum effect for pulling fuel and air. Forced induction is totally different from naturally aspirated when dealing with cams...Then again its only IMO.

Mine is carbed as you can see in my side bar. 1987 caravan with 2.2 means carb. 2.5L TBI came in later half of 1987.
