The N/A a413 has weaker clutch packs and a lock-up torque converter. Otherwise they are more or less the same. That being said, I wouldn't put too much power in front of an N/A trans. But stock T1 levels won't necessarily break it. I did not use the turbo trans when I did my conversion. It lasted a while, but second gear is now gone. The trans already had 140K on it before the turbo engine and then I let a friend drive the car and he abused it so it doesn't shock me it's broken. Change the fluid and don't beat on it all the time and it should be okay. But if you plan to upgrade the engine at all or want to do any kind of racing, definately get the turbo trans.
Also, do not go TIII unless you like headaches and long nights of annoying car work. It's a bear to swap over to TIII and there are certain reliability issues with them unless you put in the money/time to correct said issues.
You want to find an 89+ car. Spirit, Daytona, LeBaron, Shadow/Sundance, or minivan. Lots of options. Most of the T1's from those cars will be a 2.5. It's just easier to use a common block setup (89+) than the older setup. But anything can be made to work. You'll want the wiring harness from a turbo Spirit though if at all possible. It's plug and play at that point. The minivan harness is too short to work, but you could use one from any of the other cars and just redo the lighting subharnesses. Having a Spirit one is definately the way to go though. Having the correct parts, I had the old engine out and the new one in with all harnesses etc in a day's time.
