My factory spacer is worn out it is leaking vacuum all around it I got new gaskets but thats not helping. The rubber around the spacer is all blug out from years of gas hitting it. I called dodge but they don't have that part any more. Did all the carb motors use a rubber spacer or did dodge use a solid 1? The reason I ask is because no 1 in my part of the world carries this spacer just the gaskets, so I will have to hit the bone yard for 1. Would be nice if I could find a solid 1 for my rampage. Thanks for any help. Chris

If the brain is working, when I grabbed the pinto carb, itwas solid. Brab a few spacers and stack the 2 or 3 best ones.

the old ones used a rubber mounted spacer... I had one that actually separted. when you turned a corner the car would shift and the car would stumble bad. it was weird. I found it when I was investigating the problem and had my hand on the carb and it moved... just replace that plate with a solid one. all will be fine after that.

Somewhere during the 2.2L carbureted run there were some recalls concerning that rubber spacer. The 1.7L used the same setup. Starting in later years they were changed to a solid aluminum one. I think the older ones were supposed to have been switched. I did some recalls on the 81 K cars with the first design spacer when I was at Tysinger Motors back in 81. Just grab one from a later engine as was suggested.

Is there a difference between the 1.7L carb and the 2.2L carb used on the Omni's ?

More specifically.. will a Holly 5220 for the 1.7L motor bolt up to the 2.2 intake manifold ?

I ordered a Holly 5220 Carb.. which according to the manual here at All Par was the one used in non-feedback (ie cap n rotor ignition system) applications.

I sent the carb directly to Dana44 who started working the carb over..

I then got an intake manifold off an 84 H.O. Output Carb'd Omni and sent that to him to be ported..

When 44 went to put them together.. we discovered they don't bolt up ! blink.gif

So the question becomes.. did I get the wrong carb ?

I'm hoping that just the intake spacers is missing and that will solve the mismatch problem..

But I'm dying to know if I brain locked and screwed the pooch or if I have a way out ?!?!?!?!

HELP !

Yes, you need the spacer/adapter. The manifold bolt pattern is totally different from the carb. I am surprised Dana44 didn't tell you this.

hi there. I am trying to source an adapter plate for my grandma's 1985 Aries 2.2- the car wont smog because the plate is busted. It seems the plate was even replaced at some point with the aluminum one, but one of the tabs broke off, causing a leak.

I have searched all over, but can't locate one. Neither can her mechanic. Does anyone know of a store or wrecking yard I can mail order from for this part?

thanks!
Dustin

Ask here or ebay, or ask on allpar's forum. I had to source a air cleaner bracket for my carbed 2.2 by asking.

By the way, I do have a aluminum spacer with 4 studs to mount carb but no 10mm nuts, you have to source these as all I have were all worn out or rusted away. 10 + shipping will gets it.

Cheers, Wizard

Hey, I have a couple aluminum spacers. Let me know if you still need one.
