True story: My father was a sheriff in a small Neb. county, and in 1990, bought an 89 5 speed Dodge Omni TBI. Fun little undercover type run-about. He was enroute to an accident site, lights and siren behind the front grill. His deputy was about 5 minutes in front of him enroute. He caught up to the deputy's '90 Caprice, actually PASSED HIM by downshifting to 4th, upshifted to 5th, and got to the accident site first. The deputy was shocked his V-8 cruiser was walked by a 4-banger.

I had a Plymouth Horizon in 1991, carb'ed, and stock, and while it's top speed was about 90-95, it would hold that speed and handle quite well for 5-6 minutes at a shot.

It was no Neon R/T or GLH Turbo (which was a MONSTER in comparison to the stocker N/A versions) but both were fun cars.

Quarter-mile times were probably 18 something for the Plymouth and probably mid to low 17's for the TBI car....

My N/A Omni is as fast as a stock T1 Turbo Omni. But then, it's not running a 2.2 anymore.

FYI, back in the '90s there was a man that ran a NA GLH at Milan dragway.
He had a .505 lift cam,11.5 comp.,D.C. manifold & dual carbs., header,
3.87 geared stock GLH trans, & slicks. I saw him run 14.20s repeatedly!
Needless to say, I was embaressed by my then bone-stock GLHTs' 15.40s!

You think that's embarrassing I ran a 17.487 in my T1 5speed baron. Mostly higher 17s.15.4's not bad.

I have an 85 glh that i love flying pass sohc n/a hondas with their fart cans. Its a tradition for me, I get next to them, give them the biggest smile i can make and then fly pass them. The car is completely stock except for koni reds and falken azines. It handles great. I would not give up my omni for anything. My car had lots of track time. Michale odell was sponsored by dodge and my glh was what he raced. I think that L-bodies are by far the best turbo dodges. They are very lite and look very good.
I also have a couple of questions. Did the 5 lug wheels come stock on n/a glh's? Recently I have heard that they only came on glht's. But one of the cars that are pictured in this thread has 5 lug wheels mine also has five lug wheels that i believe are stock on my glh. My next question. The bumper trim in the pics of all 3 omnis have one piece. Mine have three (check pics down below) pieces on each bumper. Why is that? The reason for this question is Im missing one of the three on my rear bumper and cant seem to fine another omni with three piece trim bumpers. (Dont you love the problems i have?)

My other 85 glh is for going fast in a straight line. Running about 5 lbs of boost we lay down about 200hp at the wheels. The car also weighs 2000 pounds. Needless to say it is very fast.

In 85 the GLH & GLHT both went to 5 lug wheels, asdid the Shelby Charger.
That was also when they added the side skirts & front air dam w/ integrated driving lights. The 84's had 4 lugs & no ground effects. GLHTs didn't start until
85.

I didn't think that I could post pics yet but I guess I can. The blue one has recently been primered and some of the body work taken care of. The trim on the bumper im missing is where the bungee strap is. The pics were taken before I bought the car(got it for $500).
Thanks for the information ol"blue
