So you went to a RWD forum looking for FWD info Thats about it. Here at turbododge.com we've done major mods with L bodys for many years.

Do you want a turbo setup?

Do you want to build a car that handles and stops?

I would make a plan of what you want for the car. Autocross, drag racing, or even Rally. What do you want for it? Then there are long lists we can help you with. Consider a organ donar like a 89 Shelby Daytona or a turbo mini for the engine and wiring. Brakes and suspension can be bought new. Coil overs, sway bars, konis and big brakes. In the end just doing a hybrid of different parts from other TDs you end up with one really mean Omni. I still have a 70' Challenger, and I can tell you the people that do muscle cars haven't a clue 99% of the time what to do with a FWD. You would have had more luck on a Neon forum lol.

First, I would start here:

Donovan's Dodge Garage

and here:

Russ W. Knize's Automotive Page

and here:

www.DempseyBowling.com

and here:

Gus Mahon Homepage

You're right, your car does have a lot of potential. In my opinion, the best thing you could do is track down a turbo junker for a swap. It's much easier when you have a complete car at your disposal, although I hate to see any TD get parted out. I think you'll find that TD.com is full of knowledgeable, helpful people, some with LOTS of experience. Welcome to turbododge.com!

There's a website detailing how to convert a TBI to MPI batch- fire, but I can't remember what it is right now.

If you want it to be quicker, just keep it stock n/a and start saving your pennies for a turbo conversion. N/A 2.2's have a horrible hp/$ ratio if you try upgrading them. Biggest problem is poor head flow. Turbos help to overcome that by cranking up the boost, but the stock 8 valve head does not lend itself to n/a performance. The H.O. 2.2 carb motor was very much like yours but with a little more compression, better carb and a higher flowing exhaust system and it made 110hp. Copy those mods and add a header and you could get 120hp out of it probably. Above that, hp/$ gets very very horrible that it's just not practical. Past that all you can do really is get your head ported, get an aftermarket camshaft and go to a webber side-draft dual carb setup($$$$). More trouble and $ than it's worth IMO.

Wup, Head flow. But it's not hard to port a head just takes time. As for Just 120, I'm pushing 150 with my mods, Yes it's not a 300hp car. But I drive it to work everydayand I don't have to worry o much about blowing anything. It'll do around the 15sec mark with the 2.78 gears. As for carbs There are tons of options, Holleys, webers, whatever you can find an adaptor. I'm going to a Four carb setup in a few weeks, Should be fun. As for money, Just keep a eye open parts come around. The beauty of a N/A they resond to every little thing you do and if it breaks it's a easy fix.

24kilo, do you have a page or some threads dedicated to your car? It sounds like a nice setup and I'd like to check it out.
