Ok so while reading up here for a while I think that I am going to end up milling the head on my rampage .060...I understand about advancing the cam 2 or 3 degrees but the only thing that I am still confused about is if there will be a timing belt issue?

I have heard mixed things about this, some say to use the same belt and then some say replace it. So WILL it or WON'T it work....

Simple question...I just want the right answer...

A .060" cut is fine, but you will either have to get a special tensioner from Mopar, or get the shorter Mopar timing belt- available in square or round tooth versions. The stock set-up WILL NOT WORK!
If you need a part # I'll find my manual & get the # for you.
Special tensioner: For '81-'88 only- Part # P4286646; For '89-'94 only- Part # P4529498
Race timing belt (1 tooth shorter):For '81-'88 only (square tooth) Part # P4349565; For '89-'94 only (round tooth) Part # P4529499

I hope this helps as it came directly from the Mopar 2.2/2.5 FWD Performance Manual

My 2.5 tall block had a shaved .60 G head(and a copper shim, .20")... Nothing special about the timing belt or tensior. Getting it timed in right was a bit of work though

Just thought about it...

I won't be going N/A with the GLH now. The head is shaved and ported(Ed Peters). Need's valves and springs. LMK if your interested. This way you still have another known good head around and dont have to wait on a shop to get the work in and out.

Well then, either the Mopar manual's wrong or the PO who assembled your engine failed to mention all the different parts that were used in the build. That Demon had some "special" parts seldom seen, not the least of which was the exhaust manifold ( which people were almost ready to fight over).
It's ashamed that combo didn't hold up long enough for you to enjoy it in N/A form. Can't wait to see it under boost!

ol'blue is my hero
been bashing my head into the wall for like 4 days over my timing belt issue
and here you post up part #'s for exactly what I need
the common block/head I have has been machined so much that I can't tighten the belt
Thanks a ton

For creative intellegent people, there's aways a solution to a problem.

If you get a Gates belt catalog and rummage thru it, you can find a shorter belt. I did that over 20 years ago for my 2.2 when I took off .040 off the block and .100" off the head. The belt was $20 cheaper than the mopar belt and had all the same specs.

you could always modify the tensioner, relocate the hole or find some other car tensioner.

The part numbers DO help but if all this stuff is discontinued then what....

I have been searching for days.
the original belt is 124 tooth and the closest belt I can find to fit is a 122 tooth from 89-92 2.0 mitsubishi's, eagles, or dodge's
and 2 teeth I bet would make it way to tight to work. and it's special order from every place i've found.
so if anyone has a lead on a 123 tooth round tooth belt I'd love to know
I can't find it and it's not worth my time to cut 1/4" off the back of my tensioner and weld a bolt to the block since I don't have a welder at my house.
I'm doing an engine swap for $200 and have already done much more than needed.
cleaned and painted the block. put in a good radiator and hoses of mine, a new coolant temp sender of mine, and a computer, hell I even polished the TBI intake for the guy.
thanks for any info on a 123 tooth belt or a oversize tensioner I can get my hands on

I just replaced the original head gasket on my TBI Shadow, and had the head milled .060 because I'd done some Singh grooves and edging, and the stock belt/tensioner juuust barely worked. There will be no more cutting.
