Lookin at my timeslip. If I could rip off a 2.2 60' time that should cut down the time about 8-9 tenths. Now with an omni that should be about another 200-300 pounds lighter than the daytona. That's anothr 3-4 tenths. So with that said the 18.255 less 9 tenths less 4 tenths and we got a high 16 second car. With no other engine mods.

YUP!! my omni TBI glh clone is slightly modded,it has the complete 2.25" exhuast of my buddys shelby charger(had the local exhuast shop finish the rest of the exhuast 2.25" all the way to the back with a high flow glass pack)a 1" spacer plate under the throttle body to bring it up and away from the intake (better fuel atomization), a drop in replacment K&N filter with air box gutted and the timing to 15 degrees BTDC.i also put a solid muont in the front, find the car lauchs a"little "better. keep in mind that the best N/A stock cam is in the 88 TBI 2.2.square tooth sprocket engines.(read that on donavans site he has great info on these TBI cars!!)plus have specs to that cam and some others.with that and the 384 ratio 5 speed in it it has run two civic si and stayed with one and the other just crawled by me.they where both standards and the race was up to 130 plus km per hour, the 92 civic si,s run 16.4 in the 1/4,so i would say mine omni is up there in the 16,s some where,i would bet on maybe a 16.6.i could be wrong and would like to get some ral times but for now comparing to other car is the closest i can get.i know that the first N/A glh omni with the 110HP carb engine ran 16.8,s didn,t it?thats what i figure i am making for HP

vigo:gary donavans site is good for a lot of info on these TBI cars,he figures a shot of 50 to 75 of NOS is all the N/A motors can handle.check it out.hopfully i,l get some real time slips for the GLH clone"thumbs up .i would personaly recomend a 5 speed 88 omni to start it has alot to start with, good gearing , the best N/A cam and is the lightest of the 2.2 2.5 dodges!

thanks for the info. i dont see why the tbi couldnt take more than 75hp nos hit, it seems to me like the stock bottom end would be good to 250+hp before something broke.

but i guess theres only one way to find out, lol. all in good time.

anyway i still have my 86tbi lebaron, might start messing with it soon, and im also about to pick up an 88 or 89 reliant that threw a rod supposedly. its a nice car tho and im planning on putting the lebarons engine in it after i finish with the lebaron (gonna strip it and maybe weld it all together and see how much fun i can have with it). i rebuilt the lebarons engine about 2 years ago and have driven maybe 10k miles at the MOST since then. even when i took it apart it looked fantastic, but it only cost me 110 bucks to replace every gasket, ring, seal, plug etc on it so i just went ahead and did it since i had it apart.

im hoping to get the aries into the 17s with like no mods (i consider timing, thermo, filter to be 'not really mods' :P) so when i get that put together ill let ya know.

if anyone else out there has info keep it comin :)

id like to toss a 2.4 NA twincam and tranny in a omni just for kicks. the 90 auto axles will work and the mounts shoudnt be that hard. of course the wiring will be fun but that would be a quick little car with a modded 2.4l. Intake, cams and exhaust would easily make around 200hp and take out alot of newer sport compacts even without a turbo. but since i have all the goodies laying around to put a 2.2l turbo and an auto in one im going to do that instead. :) good luck guys

Here is what the engine looks like.

By spring I will have a 2.5" exhaust with a Walker Dyno Max Muffler and a 50 shot of N2O.

arrright now were getting somewhere. low 17s at 77 for basically an intake and a ported head (which without ported intake manifold i assume is uh not doing much right now) is sweet. on a 2.2 no less.

you did keep the tbi cam when you put that head on right? i know thats a dumb question but just checking.

thats a pretty nice little car, and actually pretty fast. guess which car of mine it will outrun:

Purty...

neat huh

that exhaust will almost surely put you in the 16s.

do you know how much the car weighs with you in it?

see im thinking with my lebaron totally stripped out, might weigh 2300 lbs. it also has a fresh 2.5. im thinking i can get something impressive (tbi wise) out of it before i take it all apart.

No the cam is right off my 1989 "turbo" Mini Van. I sent the head to machine shop to have the vlave job done and then bolted it on with new head bolts. I have knocked off 1.2 seconds so far. When I first raced the car it ran 18.4 now 17.2. Next year I hope to run 16.70 with new exhaust and front end work. Once te 50hp N23O systemd goes on I will be looking for 15.90. Time will tell.

well hot **** if you stuck a tbi cam back on it youd probly get 10hp just from that! if you want to try and find an 88 cam (supposedly the best stock cam) supposedly you can buy one for around 20 bucks, or you could skip the middleman and buy an aftermarket cam for about 100.

anyway when you get anything else done to it let me know here or a pm, im interested "thumbs up
