I wish i knew what my shadow ran when it was tbi... it had MP cam/header K&N P&P intake/exhaust and head. I was too young to run it at the track and then when i finally was old enough it developed a rod knock! Doh! I was gunna throw some nitrous on it for kicks too lol i'm guessing high 15's/low 16's? but i dont know for sure:)

PS 2 1/4 str8 pipe exhaust also, sounded pretty nutty

My TBI has a ram air imtake, catless exhaust, airbox mod, crankcase vent, and was running pretty good. Ive never taken it to the race track, but it has beat my bro's 87 nissan pulsar on the street. My bro took his car out the track once, and ran an 18.7 claiming that he missed 3rd gear. Unfortunately this summer the engine developed a miss under load, and i never quite got rid of that problem....

I dragged my 89 daytona 2.5 non turbo 5spd. I have a few timeslips still. Car was stock except K&N, Dynomax muffler but stock exhaust pipes. I'll dig em up and post my times.

mystryguy that sounds pretty good, do you still have any parts, like the tbi manifolds? if you're willing to sell them i might be interested in the next couple of months.

as far as i know, there have been a very few in the 15s na and maybe one in the 14s that may not have disclosed all his mods.

im planning on doing a 14 second tbi 5 speed omni without any internal work other than the manifolds. all n/a no n20. whether or not ill ever get to it i dunno, but i love those offbeat projects so much, if i dont do it itll just bug me for years anyway.. lol.

id like to see your slips cawcislo, and anyone elses..

im going to strip out my 86 lebaron pretty soon here, hoping i can ditch 2-300 lbs. it has run 18.7 totally stock, which is from what i hear pretty good for a stock tbi auto k-body. im hoping to hit 18 flat with just weight reduction and possibly an intake.

ive known that guy for approximately two years, and not that i dont like his car, but its mpi. i am more interested in tbis right now. :)

honestly i think the black car was a lot better looking on the outside, mostly because of the paint, but it was totalled. luckily most of the cool stuff survived to find its way to the red one. itself also pretty nice looking.."thumbs up

hey tbi guys ;) i have a beater k car with a fresh 2.5l... i may toss some nos on it later to scare people and for kicks lol. hehehehhe

oh nuff sillyness... have you ever seen teh old school tbi when it first came out.... it looks like a better tbi setup with a different style throttle body and injector setup. plus it looks easier to hook nos up to it cause you can attach a hose to the throttlebody setup. with a modded one of those and a custom intake (or a modded 1987 carb intake... supposed to flow the best of the carb intakes) i bet you could reach your goal.

has anyone thought about making a totally custom intake using a flowbench (or a precise blower and a super sensitive pressure gauge) to make sure it was even flow but still bolt a tbi unit on it.... or what about a mpfi manifold with a tbi slapped on the inlet of it with a spacer so its away a bit for more even flow and supported so it doesnt break the neck off.

i know i know..... "why not toss a turbo on it.... blah blah blah " hhehehehe... actually i have a decent tbi head and turbo ex valves that i might combine so i can use my custom supercharger on my beater k car as an experiment. its an old large turbo with lubed ceramic ball bearings installed. i just have to finish a little machining and get it balanced lol. :) good luck guys

actually somebody did that for a while, but he eventually just converted it to the mpi setup entirely. now im not sure if he made this number that way or on the tbi manifold but he got 140hp to the wheels with a bunch of other mods, then converted to mpi and got around 160. good enough for a mid 15 second run in a daytona and faster in something lighter.

unfortunately the webpage got taken down a long time ago. maybe that guy is kicking around here, who knows.

i also want to run n20 on a tbi to see how much it can take, but i would probly want it to be direct port because the stock manifold is crap and id probly melt the pistons in whichever cylinders run lean.

so has anyone run 15s here? or 16s? i think someone here with a tbi omni is in the 16s almost stock.

keep it coming!

Shadow Dude has an Omni GLH clone that is running in the 16's.. although we have never taken it to the track, we expect low to mid 16's out of it.
