I wonder how hard it would be to fab that TBI unit onto a 2 piece intake? Would it even work horizontally?

Yeah, it'll work horizontally. One guy stuck a tbi on the end of a 1pc manifold back in the day and apparently it ran. I dont remember my conversations with that guy so take this as nothing more than 'proof of concept', as in, the engine will run that way, just not sure how well.

Manifolds that are designed for 'dry' flow tend to have fuel distribution problems when you start flowing an air/fuel mixture through them. Unless you have individual cylinder air/fuel monitoring or EGT, or know how to do plug reading 'runs' then you will not generally find out about how off it is until something breaks.
