What would I need to acquire to convert my 87 Reliant K wagon from an automatic to a manual transmission? THe car has the center console with bucket seat option and the 2.5 TBI engine. Also, does anyone have a complete setup I could put in the car for sale for cheap? A520 would be fine as the engine doesn't hammer out insane Turbo HP.

you need the trans, you need the clutch and brake pedals and longer shaft that they ride on and some way to fabricate a clutch pedal self adjust stop on the steering column/pedal bracket. then you need to drill a hole in the marked dimple in the firewall above the master cyl/brake booster for the clutch cable to pass through and the bracket that bolts to the shock tower to hold the clutch cable. there should be holes drilled in the tower already but covered with a plastic plug.

then you need the shifter that comes with the trans and the matching cables too. youll have to take a look at another manny tranny car to determine where to drill the holes in the floor for the cables to pass through. the shifter itself should be a bolt in where the old shifter was. hook all the connections up and bolt a manny tranny flywheel and clutch to the crank and youll be all set.

I already did this conversion in a k car once, twice in a shadow and am going to do it to my van soon so if you have any questions, lemme know.

Easiest way would be to buy a donar car and park them side by side and swap parts.

I've done this twice now. Get the clutch/brake pedal assembly out of a junkyard car. Along with the clutch cable and bracket that holds it to the strut tower. Get the tranny (make sure it still has the tranny mount and bobble strut on it). You'll need a flywheel, being an '87 you want an 8 bolt flywheel. Then you'll need a shifter and cables that match the tranny your putting in.
I can dig up a website I made detailing my swap in an L body if you want to see what I did on the first car I converted.

It was kind of a running journal day by day.. Just saved it all. Plenty of pictures too. Don't make my mistake, avoid the A525 tranny.
