advance timing for more power but don't go to much. too much timing leads to detonation which will destroy your engine. On stock street stuff, the factory spec is 12° BTDC, I usually go 15°. On race engines I don't care what base time at idle is, I measure full advance timing @ 3000-4000 rpm generally I'm looking for 36°-38° total timing.

I concur with 15 degrees. Run good gas.

Also, consider removing the heated air flap in the airbox. I've found it's a very large restriction, and I'm convinced half of them fail in the closed position. Put it back in for the winter.

If you pull off the intake hose you'll see what I mean in the inlet. Take the box off and turn it over. Drill out the plastic rivets on the bottom of the plate just below the flap, it should come right off. Unhook the flap from the vacuum actuator above it by sliding the connector sideways until it comes free. Slide the flap out through the hole made by the plate. Reinstall the plate with self-tapping screws. If you find it tough to unhook the flap, you can take the bottom half of the airbox off by removing the torx screws around the edge and unscrew the vacuum actuator itself.

Don't hook up the heated air hose to the airbox on reassembly. Plug the nipple on the airbox with duct tape for the summer, and reinstall the hose for the winter. Just let the hose hang.

These two mods are about the best "free" mods for a TBI, other than a weight loss program.
