My Shelby just fried another Garrett T25 which is gonna cost $600+ to fix, so I figured since im gonna be daily driving my GLH HO for the rest of the summer and into fall, I might as well do something to it for fun. So far my GLH has no AC or any of the smog stuff, a rebuilt carb, 15''x6.5" crabs with 195/50 15 tires. homemade rear strur bar, plus a aftermarket "race" muffler(I didnt do it but it sounds pretty good). I have a couple of options, 1st is to buy Mopar Hedders and put a bigger exhaust maybe $200(would I have to remove the head or intake manifold to do this), 2nd is to lose the front two seats which are severely torn and replace with a pair of very lightweight bucket seats w/ the leather covers(intended for Dart 440 drag car but never used) $150, 3rd to find a pass. side door(mine has been slightly crunched)and replace, 4th to drop it about 1.5''-2.25'' buy having the springs heated $50 plus an alignment $40, any other suggestions? oh yeah, no more than a day of down time, Ive gotta have something to drive.

one: cut, don't heat the coil springs. heating weakens them.
two: the intake will have to be removed to put the exhaust header on.
i don't think DC makes them for 2.2/2.5 anymore. could be wrong tho. the exhaust is a good idea as well.
three: the passenger side door should be a no brainer. if the car looks good,
you look good.
four: the seats would help some. wieght reduction on these things is a good thing. you have to ask yourself this tho, are these going to be comfortable for an hour ride?
five: as 22dodge will tell you, go with a weber carb. you would be amazed at how much this wakes these things up.
also, i would also reccomend a cam swap. not to much, but something that
would allow you to take advantage of the headder and intake changes.
i would also upgade my ignition system and go with n9yc champions. by going with a colder plug you less likely to melt something if you lean out.
this should all be stuff you can do in a day. i just wouldn't try to do it all in one day.
later,
jammer

Yep, did the Mopar header swap in my Rampage. Was able to pull the intake and exhaust while the engine was in the car. No problem.
I've heard good things about the Mopar 767 cam. My carb'd 2.2 died before I had a chance to try one.
Definately, run. Don't walk away from the stock carbs. Get a decent Weber 32/36 DFEV (the correct orientation and it has an electric choke) If you want to make a bigger difference and don't mind tuning multiple carbs, you can get a st of sidedraft webers. http://www.piercemanifolds.com can provide you with the kits. I'll sell you my 2.2 sidedraft manifolds for $150 plus shipping if you're interested. Weber or Mikuni carbs can be had on ebay and swap meet pretty easily.
There's also Megasquirt if you're interested in getting away from the carbs completely.
I've never had trouble with the ignition system on these cars, except when things weren't in good shape. Plus on the HO cars they provide some knock protection.
I bought a set of aftermarket Recaro knock-offs on e-bay and put them in my Sundance. They feel really nice and do a better job of holding me in place. I've not had any trouble with driving long distances in them. Race car drivers need to be comfortable for endurance races, hence the form fitting seats that support their weight when pulling 2-g's laterally for hours on end and protect them in the event of a crash. Your seats dont' sound that good, put if you're comfy with them then by all means.
FWDPerformance.com sells lowering springs for the Omni's Or you can look up the thread on here to adapt adjutable Toyota coil-overs onto an Omni. thre's also the post about the 91 Jetta/Golf big bumper adaptation to the front of an Omni. Looks pretty good and still like an Omni.
Good luck,
Stefan

cant get the hedders, discontinued?! the exhaust on the car has the stock cat then a newer pipe that goes to an aftermarket muffler. the newer pipe looks like its smaller than stock, maybe 1.5'' tube. since im an inspector I dont need a cat(my 'tona doesnt have one), so im thinkin of a 2.25 catless pipe to theback and keeping the muffler, sound good? what kind of gain should I expect? Im also considering the big cam from mopar, what kind of gain would that provide? thanks for the help!

There was a factory cast iron header and downpipe from Mexico for sale on the SDML not too long ago. $150 and no cracking issues.

Found out a big problem today! my stock cat was almost completely clogged! I had a local muffler shop replace it with a new one and put 2.25'' all the way back for only $100. couldnt really feel a difference, could be wrong though. what next? cam swap, UD pulley or lose weight?
