I finaly got my daytona running, but now its not running very happy. I had to replace the fuel tank/pump/sending unit do to rust in the tank. I replaced it all with the parts from a 84 turbo daytona. I dont know if the pumps are any different but this is the only thing i can think of thats making my car run like it is. The way it is acting is like it is flooding out under acceleration. I know the stock 2.5L tbi engine doesnt have alot of balls but still this is terrible. would the different pump make a difference at all? I have replaced the o2 sensor, cap/rotor, plug wires, plugs(not sure if there the right ones), and fuel filter. Is there anything else i should check to see if its running bad? The car at the moments throwing a code 23, I have played with the temp sensor on the TB but it still wont take the code away. how long do codes normaly stay in the computer? Well somebody help please, im getting 5mpg and its eating my wallet to just drive the dang thing.

HELP

Wes

The fuel pumps are different between the Turbo and N/A cars. What year is your 'tona? The turbo pump is probebly flooding your TBI motor.

As said above its the wrong type of fuel pump and it will flood your vehicle easily! Go to the junk yard and grap a non turbo fuel pump.

No it won't. Ever heard of a fuel pressure regulator? TBI cars came with turbo pumps starting around 90 or 91.. They've always been able to control the pressure of a turbo pump. Get a fuel pressure gauge (good luck hooking it up to a TBI car.. Kinda sucks) and see what your pressure is..

Also, you guys never learn. Fuel pumps wear out, an 84 is probably worse than the one you took out. BUY a new one, if you can't afford it, don't drive.

The one i took out was seized with rust from the tank, so no it isnt worse. The pump is just fine the car i took it out of sat for 10 years or more not running so it doesnt have as much run on it as you would think. And yes a new pump would be nice but i dont have the money. AT the moment im workiing on a t2 for the car so im just trying to get this engine running half decent to get me around be fore the big boy is dropped in. How can i check fuel pressure on the injector when its all inside the TB. I guess im just going to live with it or now till i have the t2 built.... damn fedex bring me my rings and bearings. If any body else might know why the engines stumbling like this let me know. it only does it after i get to about 2500 rpms and up at part throttle. full throttle isnt as bad but it still doesnt pull like i think it should. I think it might because of the blackish/blue smoke thats getting thicker out the exhaust has something to do with it.

Thanks guys
