Guys,
I just picked up a rebuilt NOS 78 Holley 5220 for about $40. I want to put this on my Omni GLH. (I also have the MP intake for future use.)

Questions: Can I just bolt this right on? What specs am I setting it to? ( I want to change the jets as I have the MP kit. I intend to use the ones the Mopar 2.2 performance book suggests. )

What type of HP increase could I expect from the stock rating? My engine had a stock rebuild bored out to close to 2.5. I have about 1500 miles on it since the rebuild.

I figured I needed a carb as my car had an old carb (the only thing old on it anymore) and while coming down highway exit ramps too fast the car would just stall and would take a few minutes until I could restart it. I think the carb was getting flooded as it was old. I don't know for sure. I did get stuck twice.
Thanks,
Mike D'Antonio

The MP intake is just the later model intake that came on the 84 GLH, it helps on the 83 and older 2.2's The only gain would be from increasing the plenum area under the carburetor.

The stalling thing is possibly junk getting into the fuel bowls from a bad charcoal canister, but it could also be a flooding issue as well. The Weber 32/36 adn its clones (the Holley 5200 and 6500 series) suffered greatly from fuel sloshing around int eh fuel bowl when driving agressively. The only solution to that is to go with a different carb (Weber/Mikuni/Solex sidedrafts) or some sort of EFI.

As for a power increase, don't expect too much. as you're still servicing 4-cylinders with a poor intake and a poorly designed carb. At the very least you can get back to what the car came with from the factory (110hp)

Good luck,
Stefan
