I have a 2004.5 dodge ram 2500 with the cummins ho. This is the first diesel I have owned and do not think I will ever go back to gas. It has the six speed tranny in it and it runs like a scalded mule on the highway and the power is nuts, I pulled a stuck tractor trailer out of the mud on my jobsite.
I have installed an EFI stage 2 intake and a mrsp 4" exhaust system. Is there any other mods anyone with a little more diesel experience could suggest that would give me a more power, with out sacraficing the trucks dependability since this is my only vehicle and I use it for work and PLAY

TST with gauges. We have tried them all and TST just works the best for the 600's. Just make sure you keep it down around level 4 maybe 5. anymore then that and you will find your clutch does not like it. Or you can wait for this (which is what I'm doing) http://www.wagnerandassociates.biz/smartyfaqs.htm
It's called the "smarty", this facts page shows the 2nd gen smarty which is out now. The third gen smarty will be out soon. And will do a lot more then the 2nd gen will because unlike the injection pump on the 2nd gen trucks. The pump wire doesn;t have to be tapped to dump more fuel into the cylinders.. it will be able to do that all on it's own. and your warranty will stay where it should and no one will ever know it's been messed with

oh and since you're in texas.. start learning a little more about Don M. He owns http://www.f1diesel.com. He is incredibly smart with these motors.

friend of mine dumped the cat on his 05 and ran it before and after on the dyno.. didn't gain or lose any power. But eventually the cat will clog. I just removed it off my Dad's 05. And we have emissions testing here. No worries though.

Anytime you add power you can shorten the life of a part. Id just stick a power module from Edge or Bullydog on it and call it good. Try www.cyclonediesel.com , he sells anything and everything.

My brother has an '05 Ram 2500 diesel and he just put a Bullydog programmer on it. Its got a few settings on it and can be turned to totally stock.

He also removed the converter and muffler and has a 4" straight pipe.

He brought it to the track tonight and its best run was a 14.4.

The truck is his only vehicle and its his work truck too. Normally he has a ladder rack and two bedside tool boxes on it but he took them off a few days ago. He also has a plow for the truck and the minute mount part of the plow frame stays on it.

injectors make a world of difference on the diesels.. stay with 80 hp or less due to the rest of your truck being stock.. like you head etc.. you should be safe with that and that is one of the biggest power increases you could do..

Haven't posted in this section before but it's time. I have a 95' and it is a "DOG" compared to my old 91'. I need more POWER!

So looking around I see the TST plates and bigger injectors seem to be the two most popular. Since this is my tow rig I'm not real interested in anything other than hill pulling and mileage.

So is the plate better than just injectors? Do both? (If injectors, what size?). Governor springs (and why do I want them...)?

All stock except the 4" exhaust (no muff or CAT)

TIA

ps: Not afraid of replacing the transmision (ATX)

take out your stock plate and grind it flat, re-install givin' yourself about a

1/4 in. from the front.

if no turbo up-grade is in your near plans of performance stick with med.

sized injectors.

gov. springs are a must. they keep your motor from starvin' for fuel when

nearin' redline.

if you can find a good deal on big injectors but are concerned about temp,

use a wet inject kit or find a good used intercooler from a 24v, there's your

intercooler upgrade. they are bigger than a 12v and fit well.

there are many other up-grades but these here are the budget or easy type

up-grades, any ?'s let me know i'm glad to help,

HAVE FUN, KEEP ON TRUCKIN'!

Thanks monsterB!

Just got my truck back from the shop. Found the injector pump was 12* advanced. Runs much, much better now! Almost twice the power it had (like I said it was a dog). It's about the same as my old 91 now so I'll take your tips and take the next step.
