your not hearing my right, im not using a "paxton", im using somthing ive built LIKE a paxton design. the compressor blades in it work alot difforently than a turbo or paxton blowers would. they work like an airplanes turbine engine, half the blades stationary, half spinning, compressing air against the stationary blades actualy inside the housing, not like our turbos and such that compress air because its just being packed into the manifold and against the valves. anyway, with the right gear ratio, this set up WILL (preaty damb sure anyway) make boost instantly. like i said, we'll have to see though. ill be sure to post evrything i learn once its in.

Ok, I just join in on this to take a look on whats being talked about.... And i'm already confused. But.... if you want to make boost, like right now. supercharger would be the way to go. Twinchargering is cool, just to say you did it but I don't know if it is the best thing to do. Sure it will help your turbo spool up, but so will nitrous... and thats alot cheaper then a 1600$ paxton charger/or whatever you are using.

you can make a turbo spool plenty fast enough these days, I don't have any real issues with them. As far as compounding goes, if I had a B&M blower I would do it. Real easy at this point and would work right. All custom it may end up to much time and money, far more than most of these cars are worth. For the most part this is a show car build, allot of BS to go wrong to be raced. What would I build? I would use a big valve head and a MP 767 cam. TU header and a T3/T4 hybrid with a stage 3 exhaust and a S50 wheel. A 60mm TB off a Jeep 4.0 and a large SSautocrome IC with large 3" plumbing. Would make great power but mostly be really impressive to look at.

yeah thats true but if you get the super charger to cut off as the turbo kicks in you would be looking at a level horsepower and no drop off in power as you switch because you do not have to wait for spool time and wait for the super to keep running causing an over boost and nos can cause a lot of damage internally and fudge everything up since you are adding chemicals to chemicals as to air to air so you are also looking at something that can be a perminent part of he car so $1600 once for a life time of use as to $250 several short times of use usually only a minute max

You don't have to shut the supercharger off. You can, but most people out looking for power with twin charging leave it on. Volkswagon has a motor like that in Europe a 1.4liter that gets 48 mpg and make 174 hp. Running nitrous lean is what causes problems. I remember a kid in town running 125 dry nitrous in his Ford Probe. Well he F'ed his motor cause he never bothered to get bigger injectors or fuel pump. And he talked about it like he accomplished something?.... Nitrous is a chemical to a chemical?

i meant adding outside chemical to a controled chemical burn to make the burn better

twin charging is a great setup, but often is a daunting task... lots of plumbing...

but hey... no lag

what do you think about shaving the head and then putting a s/c on it as well ?? we race 4cyl cars on dirt tracks here and most of the one s weve built havre been the 2.2 we took a turbo daytona and took the turbo off the manifold and fabricated the intake to accept a n/a system so we are running a turbo motor with a shaved head and no turbo and it kicks some pretty good tail .. does anyone know where i can maybe pick up a s/c kit nowadays ?? you can email me at redneckmacdaddy@hotmail.com if you can help me it would ne great

I've heard of people doing this on supercharged 3.8 GM motors. They put on a bigger SC pully to make it more efficient like 7 psi and have a turbo setup to but. The neat thing about it is it actually multiplys the intake pressure. if your running 7.5 psi(about 1.5 bar) and another 7.5psi through the SC your actually going to get about 18.5 psi, not 15 like you might expect. I've also hear people are trying it on Cobalt SS and like powered cars. The one 3.8 example I've heard of ran a nice air to air IC after the turbo and then had an aftermarket water to air underneath the supercharger. Pretty cool thinking if ya ask me.
They put on bigger pulleys? Do you mean Smaller? Putting bigger on would lower the boost...unless thats what u meant....?

Just curious... i was into the 3.8 engines for a while before coming to the TD world...Had a 00 gtp running very low 13's..and high 12's with drags...its all it had in it unless u have thousands upon thousands to get more parts for...because after the low 13 second mark..parts tend to break....oh well..

No bigger pullys, effectivly lowering the boost. It makes everything turn easier because they don't need to run all boost through a SC they just use a few pounds for torque off the line and help spool the turbo. The side benefit of having a bigger pully is the SC has less drag on the crank.

You don't need to. There are benefits to running it all the time.
