heres a question. i have a blower off a buick (the 3800 engine) and im wondering if i made a manifold to take it and all that, would it be rotating the right way? just curiouse. how much power do you think your blowers use to run? and at idle, do you pull vacuum? how dofforent does the acceleration feel with a blower over a turbo? ive always been interested.

That m90, or possibly also m70 depending on the year, is not going to flow anywhere near as much air as your current turbo... Other than that I've got nothing else for you and you probably already know what I said already

Go to the eaton side. I believe the M62 is happy to up to a 3L engine. What do you have in mind?

I would have to say it would definately move some air in a 2.5. I mean they come on a V6 3.8 litre and those cars don't go half bad. Especially you could throw an underdrive pulley onit and get that much more. But why if you already got a turbo

M90
http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/turbo/TurboMaps/M90flow.gif

Also, sorry I stating m70 I wasn't thinking. The posts after my initial one are correct about it being an m62.

So basically, at around ehh 15-17psi you'd be flowing similar amounts of air as if you sized the pulley correctly to max the sc at 6k. It would make some power, that's for sure and probably be tons of fun to drive. Unfortunately the HX35 can support way more airflow and is already on there...

I'd toss it on something else personally but to each his own. It would be a cool project to see.

Well I can't link to the only site I could find an hx35 map.... that sucks.

i already have a HX-35 that im happy with and i would never go back to anything smaller.
i would some day like to get a late 80s, early 90s suzki swift 1.3L to put my blower on.
i was mainly interested in how hard a TD takes off with a SC. and what a boost gauge looks like at idle. is it ever in vacuum? or does it idle at "0"?

overdrive pulley

the boost gauge in my Regal GS (Eaton M90) does not display vacuum, but yet of course there is vacuum at idle, cruising etc. when you rev it in neutral the boost bypass valve opens up preventing boost when there is no load on the engine.

i wouldn't bother with a roots S/C when you could turbocharge it. they are so inefficient. i'd rather use a T25 on a 1.3L but that's just me. although, places like zzperformance.com sell water-to-air intercoolers that mount between the intake and S/C so that would help.

6 psi of boost from a blower is totaly different than 6 psi from a turbo.... I know it sounds stupid but.....

my blower only makes it up to 5 psi.... but I can keep up to a turbo II with 18 psi of boost....
