Ok here's the scoop. My brother (DC Turismo) just purchases an NOS DC Supercharger kit and we have a few questions about the eventual install.

Is this kit a bolt on deal?
Are there any modifications needed to make it work?
The kit we are getting, is NOS and everything that came with it, is there.

Reason I ask, I talked to a Chrysler tech today (a good friend of my family) and he said that you have to perform electrical modifications, along with mods to the fuel system to use a Supercharger kit. We do not plan on running more boost that what it does in its stock form. It is getting installed only for its uniqueness, not to drag race or anything.

Any help is appreciated.

Also, does the kit work with the A/C or will I need to pull that when I go to install this beast?

Its pretty much a bolt on deal. There was no electrical work needed for my car except for the sencer. You might have alittle work but not much if you put a carb with manual choke from an elec choke.
You will have to pull the air conditioning unless you don't mind installing a manual rack for you car, this way you will make an extra spot on your pully for 1 item. You will loose some weight off your car, and you'll gain a tiny bit more horse power!
I removed my power steering and installed a manual rack not in find that little more power, I wanted to keep my A/C!
I must say my friend HotRodDodge did most of the work on the car. But I did help a great deal and he has shown me alot.

I agree, it’s pretty much a bolt on. It’s the little things that tied me up for a while, tensioner, carb linkage, what to do for hood clearance etc. The stock ignition works fine with this blower…that’s what I’m running. Though you should go with some colder plugs like any forced induction setup. I’m running Champion RN9YC's and they seem to work good with this setup. I’m also running a 160 degree thremostat and I wired my fan to run all the time as these roots blowers do produce heat. I’m running the tiny non-A/C radiator and it runs cool now. A cooler engine will also help eliminate detonation.

One optional electrical mod I made was I wired in a detonation sensor using the stock electronics. The B&M blower’s intake has a threaded hole for a stock type detonation sensor. My stock ‘84 computer has the same pin for the detonation sensor as the old high compression carbed Shelby's that used them. The factory just never finished running the wire to it on the non-Shelby cars. I’m now running the MP spark computer and it too is pinned for a DT sensor.

I’m also running a stock fuel pump with my Weber 38 and it's working fine. 3 PSI is what the Weber 38 carb (yours and mine) requires. I’d put a fuel pressure gauge on it to check to be sure though cause if I recall JonyMopar needed a fuel pressure regulator for his. You may need to re-jet your carb so it doesn’t go lean on you too. I can give you some jet #’s if you need them. I also installed a A/F gauge on mine using the stock O2 sensor.

Another thing too, if you want to convert your DGAS from a water choke (if I recall from the auction pic that’s what it had) to an electric choke you can buy a conversion kit. Wire it to the stock choke wire and it will work good…that’s the way I have mine set up.

For the carb’s throttle cable you will need to make some mods to you stock setup. I’d recommend you go to the junkyard and get a spare throttle cable and brackets and modify them…more on that later.

You’ll probably end up ditching the B&M tensioner as most of us have. Your kit came with the PS pump pulley, so that’s good. You can use "S" pump with the B&M supercharger. I'm running the S on mine right now. I did have to cut out a notch on the end of my S pump's bracket at the adjustment slot to give me a little more rearward adjustment due to the fact I'm not running a tensioner on mine in order to get my belt to fit. This will require a shorter belt. I use the Carquest Micro-V (Gates) K040545 14mm x 1395mm belt.
Some guys are running JonyMopar’s tensioner design. I may end up doing the same eventually. I don’t have A/C so I can’t help you much on that subject. I believe JonyMopar is running A/C with PS. Maybe he has some insight on this.

Good Luck
Anthony

BUT AS YOU ALL KNOW THE BM TENSIONER IS A HALF WITTED DESIGN AT BEST FOR THIS APPLICATION.. I AM WORKING ON A FIXED IDLER TO IMPROVE BELT WRAP ON THE DRIVE PULLEY, I HAVE IT BUILT, JUSY HAVE TO TEST IT. I DON'T CHECK THIS SITE TO OFTEN, SO I'LL PUT MY E MAIL UP IF SOMEONE NEEDS TO CONTACT ME JONYMOPAR@AOL.COM GOOD LUCK TO ALL WE ARE A ELITE GROUP OF AUTOMOTIVE PIONEERES IN THE FIELD OF FWD PERFORMANCE.

Question:
Is the Weber carb in the Supercharger kit the same carb as the Mopar Performance one P4286772? I can't find the MP carb anywhere.

i don't know what carb came with these blower kits but the supercharger that i have is one of the first ones made for these cars around 1982??? or so it is bigger than the newer blowers ...
mine is 88ci
the others are around 66ci
the carb on my car is a DGV-5A 32/36 Weber
it bolts right on to the blower with out an adapter plate
i'm not sure what the others use but i think they are supposed to be the same as the holley 5220 carb but i'm not positive

I believe mine is the same there SC2.2... I know it's dgv, and i'm pretty sure it's the 32/36 model. I'll have to pull out the boxes to verify that though.

You mentioned you had AC on your car, correct?

The Carb Was Not Part Of The Kit Itself, The Mp Catalog Reccomended The Weber Dgas 38, Purchased Separate. Has Anyone Tried A Small 4bbl On This Set Up. It Kinda Bugs Me That 1/3 Of The Inlet Is Blocked By The Adapter Plate.

Yeah, DC no longer exists. If anything, it's now Mopar Performance, but most of this old stuff of ours is NS1

In case you needed them, I've scanned all the instructions and placed them on the net

Hope this helps,
