Is the Bellhousing removable for the 999/904? I'm asking because if one were to use one on a 2.2/2.5, would they have to swap? If not, will it bolt right up? If it does bolt right up and the bellhousing is removeable/interchangeable w/ the 2.2/2.5, it might work for a 3.0L Just a few questions.

I'm going to talk to a guy that has one of the 904 2.2 tranny housing tomorrow night when I pick up my Masi cranks. I'm going to see if he will let it go for a fair price. If so I will be doing a RWD platform for sure. I like the fact that our motors make enough torque to pull the tires up. I think the racemotor that I have in the works is going to have plenty to allow me to see blue sky off the line.

on most A bodys a wheel stand would not be that tough. With an all stock heavy 340 under the hood the old mans 69 swinger had 1.70 60ft times with 14" skinny M&H tires. drop 300 lbs off the nose to 2,700 car and it will pull the front tires without allot of effort. An 8v engine would do fine.

Has window on the seperator plate between trans and block.

I imagine the flywheel would be special, nothing you cant
mark yourself when verifying TDC (or would trust since our factory
marks are off +/- a few degrees when compared to actual
TDC).

On an unrelated note, why would you want a Masi crank? Do you have any idea how horribly overweight they are? If you goal is to use masi rods, well those are horribly overweight also! You'd be better off using a regular forged crank and rods with masi pistons. (you'd have to change the pin diameter of course)

Because we are looking at making a killer power plant a little weight added will we good insurance of nothing snapping down low. We(my engine builder and I)are trying to keep this project on a hush hush for now.

904 guts have reached parts availabilty of TH350 nowadays.
Aluminum drums and fully rollerized components front to rear.
The 904 is a LOT lighter than the 727, lot of drag cars picking
up a few 1/10's by simply doing the swap with a lot less rotating
mass and resistance. Not like we are building 3300# iron monsters
so my sub #2000 car should be fine

How much would it cost to have an adapter plate made and custom converter bought? Could you possibly get it done for $500? Anybody got pics of an adapter plate?
