Notice the exhaust-cylinder head flange, its from the 2.4L/2.6L G54/G64 series. The TD04 is the 12A that was used prior the the 14G used on the later TSI/ESI intercooled models. Both of the Mitsu turbos used a 3bolt mounting flange.

Also notice the lack of water cooling, which narrows is down to pre-1985 models.

I don't know. Never have I seen a starion 2.0/2.6 pre 85 turbo with a hose over the compressor outlet. The starions had a hard fitted pipe that went inside. I also thought that all starions/conquest used the tdo5. My guess is it is from a old Mitsubishi 4D56 Diesel engine. That is just my guess.

Anybody know if the bulk-head connectors are the same between SBEC and SMEC? I want to convert to SMEC on my 90' Dakota, and I have access to a harness from a 89' minivan to get me started if the bulkhead connectors are the same I might buy it. Anybody know?

trust me, I'm aware of the nicknames, I've had mopars since I was 19, now 50. I've had just about every oldschool mopar engine except a 273 and a 426 hemi. back in the day, regardless of what brand, a bb hp mopar was commonly known as a magnum. all 340's were hp's, but were not known as magnums. however, you forgot one. a roadrunner (at least on 68-71 models, as well as the 2 69 383's I owned) had a "roadrunner" moniker, not "commando". it was printed on the breather trim ring, as all were. most commandos were in the gtx's. but what's in a name, eh? even with the magnum name designation you referre to, more or less, they merely signify they are hp's with more horsepower than the regular versions. in other words, pretty much like the oldschool hp's.

I was only going on what you wrote, not what you meant. you mentioned the 340 (68-73) in the same sentence with a magnum (92-02) sb, which is somewhat confusing considering the newer was mfg 19 yrs after the former.

sorry for any mixup.

I want a Turbo Dakota. Since I was recently informed of the 2.4 neon head will go onto a 2.5, I am going to use that with aftermarket off the shelf manifolds and a Turbo Kit that comes with everything and a boost controller also. It has a Hybrid t3/t4 and is only 900 bucks, everything new. I am going to document every nut and bolt and make entries onto my personal website, but it will be this winter before I start. I really believe this will be wau more simple noe than in the past. And I am going to use the RWD Tranny swap discussed in the rwd2.2 forums string. Dude I am so ready for this.
