Anyone in the process of putting together a turbo dakota? I have a 91 that I am converting to 88-89 smec electronics, and throwing a 2.2 in place of the 2.5L N/A. Lets see some pics of works in progress, or any links to finished dak's.

there was a 94 or 95 in the for sale listing a few months ago, it was in FL, he had done 90% of the work needed except for the turbo. Looked great.
In a couple of months I will be trying to turbo my 98 Dakota, it has the Jeep 2.5 4 banger in it.

I believe it was Jason Knox that was selling that dakota. There have been a few conversions, just not sure if anyone documented them.

Do a google search for "Dave Berken GLH turbo". I was talking to him a cople of years back about the spitfire wiring and he had done a tasty little turbo dakota with a custom intake and exhaust.

I believe it was Russ Jerome who had the nice looking dakota with lots of pics of the buildup on his homepage in the last year or so.

The 4x4 dakota never came with a 2.5 so you would need an adapter to hook up a v6 or v8 trans and transfer case parts. Plus it would add a lot of weight.

I completed this swap in my '95 dakota about a year ago. I went the money saving route so we did all the fab work in my buddy's garage. Any questions or if you want pics, shoot me an e-mail (brandon.gregory@falconjet.com). I drive this truck to work everyday (one way is 42 miles) and I love it. It has been the most reliable vehicle I have, and the power is a major improvement (I am only pushing about 8psi max).

with a manual trans, it's very EZ to have a 4cyl 4x4 dakota. I just swapped bellhousings, bolted in the engine, changed the PCM and wire harness. but what a dog and poor fuel mileage the 3.9 was much better.

So your saying that I can take a trans from a 3.9 and bolt it to the 2.5 with the 2.5 bell housing. This is the first I'm hearing of it. I thought they were completely different bell housings.

Which manual trans are you referring to? Could this possibly be the 6 speed from Jeep?
