well it took entirely too long but i got the motor in my turbo dakota fired up last week. no radiator yet so i just let it run in 15 to 20 sec increments but it has oil pressure and idles. It is a little bit rich but ill start tuning the webers after i get the cooling system in and can let it run for a while.

hers a link if anyone wants to see some pics.

Looking good. I really like the color of paint. What are you going to do to combat vapor locking? Looks like it could be a problem, especially with the carbs so close to the exhaust.

acr turtle= thanks
I have a dei header/exhaust wrap kit. It includes some thermal paint with silicon/ceramic stuff in it..supposed to be good up to 1500 deg and the paint alone is supposed to help reduce temps. I am wrapping it all the way under the cab. I also have an idea on an aluminum shield with that thermal shielding on it between the header and the carbs with ducting from the grill to keep constant air flow through it as well..

on the paint i love it as well. its house of kolor kandytangerine sprayed over orion silver base color with some clear coat to protect it. I cant wait to spray the rest of the truck. I am a novice painter this is my second complete solo paint job. if you looked at the project neon page on my webspace. that was my first solo job. its kandy oriental blue. It came out pretty good. i thought.

Neon looks good as well, but I want the Dart. And you're pretty confident in yourself to buy expensive paint for the first paint job.

on the paint I am not confident by any means. a good frind of mine owns a body a shop and i hang out there alot and watch him do custom work and it just motivates me. I love good paint/body work. it just takes things to another level you know?
I just figured no one was going to hand me the gun to screw up a couple thousand dollar house of kolor kandy paint job so i decided to screw up my own cars lol. so i bought the tools and away i went. experience is invaluable you know? i bought that neon just to paint it before i painted my dakota. quick learning curve i know but you can either sit around and talk about doing things or just do them and hope for the best. i prefer to try and see what happens myself.

I have wanted a dart for years and years just never got around to it. When i found that one i could not resist. AFter i got it home i spent about 50 bucks and it starts on command now. I start it once a week and let it run for about 15 to 20 min and about every other week i drive it around the block a couple times to keep the seals and bearings wet.

Where were you a in MAY?????? my semi broke down and i went a couple thousand dollars in the hole.. I begged for someone to take it. no one would buy it.

mike the paint primer clear activators and reducers were about 700 or so to paint that neon that color.

I didnt think it was that bad. and your tona could be that color very easily.

I understand the broken down semi. I used to drive as an owner/operator. I don't know how I missed the F/S post. I used to refinish (spray paint) bathtubs for a living. I used an HVLP set up with spray gun. So I'm ready to spray the Horizon, just gotta get the body work done.
